If anything...other than blowing 27 games...exposes this dumpster fire bullpen more...it's the 4-9 record in extra innings. Can't even win these extra inning games at home...where you have the distinct advantage. What a damn tragedy. Oh well. Move on to 2020.

they've lost so many games by 1 run too. all those blown games by the pen in the middle of the season caught up w/ them. I'm really not tired of Maddon more than I am of Theo. Maddon has shit to work with. But the team needs a change. i don't hate maddon but they need to bring someone new in that will kick these guys in the ass. Too bad Lou Pinella is retired. He'd be the perfect remedy. Kick these guys asses around - don't be afraid to yell at Q when he gives up leads, and light a fire under these guys.

Yep saw that..they are so undisciplined at the plate and on the base paths..

Home run or nothing there. At that point of the game , yes hit a HR, but be smart too. Guy can't find the zone, get on. be the tying run on base. If he did that they win the game in the 9th tonight and save their season.

guys today don't play baseball like we were taught to i guess. pitcher walks a guy on 4 straight, wait for him to throw a strike before swinging. don't help him out. I guess that doesn't work anymore in this era.

Yeah...they need a new voice...and that will be the reasoning Theo uses to let him go. You are absolutely right that this is on Theo. He crafted this roster together. Everybody here got mad at me for mentioning Cubs have the 2nd highest payroll in the league so often...but it's very significant imo.

Since they were risking everyone w/ long term injury tonight why not have just rolled out Morrow. Id like my chances with Morrow than what we saw w/ Kimbrel.

Lose to 5-4 in extra innings...or lose 25-0...it's the same thing as far as the standings go.

The Kimbrel signing is an absolute tragedy. Money wise....contract wise...production wise. Couldn't have been a worse signing. Plus...we are stuck with his choke ass for 2 more years. An absolute nightmare signing.

If not for Schwarber...Cubs would have been two runs closer in the 9th. His base running gaffe was inexcusable...plus his fielding error cost a run. Then the horrific at bat in the 9th.

Yeah that was terrible. Should have held up instead of running blind to home without watching the ball.

Theo is following in his own footsteps from his days in Boston...with 1 less ws title.... his fa signings are about as awful here as they were there...when he gets money to spend he's a below avg gm.

The pluses were lester and I guess heyward just for his speech and defense

His minuses are too long to list; heck even his bargain basement signings this offseason were awful (descalso, brach, etc)

I'd consider that base running gaffe to be very baseball stupid as well. He never struck me as the brightest bulb in the box anyway. But the real kick to the balls was Kimbrel. The fact the Cubs are 4-9 in extra innings is a stark example of what a death circus the Cubs bullpen is....and Kimbrel is the lead clown.

When you think of it...the Cubs 4-9 record in extra inning games is the microcosm of the Cubs season. The bullpen entirely exposed by giving up the lead in those games...and the missed opportunities to close the game out in extra's exposing the Cubs failure in clutch situations. Kimbrel's choke job vs Milwaukee a while back was a foreshadow of the kick to the balls to seal the season yet to come....as it did tonight...and to be stuck with this clown for 2 more years? Dear lord. And that pitch was a dead on..straight down the middle cookie for Carpenter. A single A 17 year old would have teed off on that.

If kimbrel stinks they won't keep him around. they'll eat those 2 years salary.

I doubt any team would be interested in him at this point...so yeah it would definitely be simply eating that salary. A horrific, franchise damaging signing.

One of them has actual managerial experience. I’ll take that one.

Theo will never hire someone like Girardi. He will ask for too much power and Theo isnt going to relinquish that. If Theo wants that might as well keep Joe.

I think it'll be Ross. Unless Ross does not want it. He'll be cheap, listen to Theo, and knows this club pretty well.

Jesse Rogers this week reported that Marc DeRosa was 'surging' in the rumor mill but i don't want that guy.

Where are all those statistical genius posters?
I really need to hear from one of them to tell all you haters how dumb you are and that this group a great team and everything is gonna be alright.
Cause right now, I’m not feeling real good about how this season ends.

The base running was bad, but I believe that was because the contact play was on, which is something Joe/Butterfield do a lot with a man on 3rd and less than 2 outs. It sucks, but when that play is on you run on any contact and play the odds. Probably should be more upset by the piss poor at bats after Schwarber got on. Think about it, even if he wasn't thrown out in a run down, Wilson would have been thrown out at First and Heyward still grounds out in the next at bat...So at the end of the day, its the same result.

As for his "fielding error", that bobble is not why Goldie scored. Kyle threw a fucking rope to Wilson and had the runner beat by 4-5 feet. Wilson couldn't catch the damn ball on a near perfect throw. You want to ***** about someone, how about Wilson who looked like utter crap last night.
