Baez looked like champion. 3 two strike hits is night and day from what he was. I will say flat out. I will root for him over anyone else because of the struggles he went through. I respect the **** out of people that deal with family and still succeed. I believe the Cubs hired Manny specifically for Baez. I hope the Cubs keep him because I believe he will be something whether on the Cubs or not and I think the Cubs believe it as well.

I'm rooting for him too. He had a very tough year and then came back and retooled his game. People can't talk about that swing in Wednesday's game all theyd lik, and I'm not going to say he's never going to swing for Mars again, but if you can't see he's a different player at the plate than this time last year then you are not paying attention.

It took a year + for Rizzo to adjust. He had a similar comp. looked like crap on the Pads. Spent time in AAA hit 16 HR 2nd half. Still had the sophomore jinx. Year 3 is when he broke out.

Baez is still a baby in the league. Way to early to judge him

Yeah, somebody...probably Manny...did a nice job working with him. He was the one guy of this group of kids I was worried about. You had to figure ML pitchers would take advantage of that wild swing at some point. His bat is still quick but he's seems so much more under control which is not only good for his game but also his well being....that crazy swing would've eventually have led to the feared oblique injury.
