Copied from someone on Twitter:

Well the Jason Heyward and Jose Quintana that the Cubs thought they were getting have arrived. 2022 or so should be a great year for Yu Darvish.

Russell can leave forever, as far as I'm concerned.
It's not about Russell being better at SS. It's about the combo being the best defensive duo in MLB.
And as great as Javy looks on his best plays, he really needs to stop making throwing errors on somewhat routine plays.

I'd be happy with Javy at SS if there was no alternative. But the two of them together is better than any other combo we have.

Why can't some fans react to positive events in a positive manner?

I don't get why people are talking like Russell can't play 2B. He literally started his career there and was quite good. If the cubs want to keep Javy at SS for his arm they can. They were having conversations about this switch even before Russell was suspended.

If Russell can play 2nd, I would be all for it. I didn't recall that he had, and wasn't going to assume that it's a no-brainer. (Turning the DP is a big change). But I would like that combo if Addy can handle 2nd.

Nice work.
That's like their ninth biggest HR threat.

Remember he started there when they had Castro at SS and eventually supplanted Castro at SS.

Yes, it's coming back to me now. I tried to forget we would have left Castro at SS while we had Russell.

Javy is the new Human Highlight Reel.

Defensively. On the base paths. At the plate. Every day, another must see clip.

I kinda want to bump old threads. They would be funny to read now.
I remember my brother and I discussing Javy even during the 35-40% K days. While Bryant was shining and many others were doing well, his comment was "Javy may be the best of the bunch", and I agreed. I have been very high on Javy from Day 1. He is currently one of MLB's better players, and may be the most exciting and fun to watch.

Second week into last season I demanded they trade Javy. Will keep my day job.

I'm still surprised statistically Javy works as a player. He's definitely the exception. Guys who walk ~5% of the time and K over 26-28% of the time don't hit .290-.315. It's also crazy just how much power he's able to get to despite those flaws. At this point I'm willing to believe he's just abnormal but he scares me a bit committing long term. He strikes me as the type of guy who if he loses anything he has going for him be it bat speed or whatever he might just totally fall apart because as mentioned guys who walk 5% of the time and k 26-28% of the time typically aren't good hitters. So whatever mojo he has that some how makes it work... if anything upsets that i worry it will no longer work.
