Terrible game for the Cubs! Bad play cost them! I still have no idea what Rizzo thought? I mean did he really think he had a shot at third?

The play I think that killed it the most was definetly the horrible throw and error from LaStella in the first inning that should of been a routine play, which ended up scoring the first run of the game. Ugh!

What's the deal with this Forum? Did everyone just figure them to knock off the next 30 or so in a row? WTF They've blown the doors off what most people that was going to be one of the toughest divisions in the National League. They are going to LOSE some games down the stretch and regardless of that fact...NO one is going to catch them.

So, lighten up.

Surprising that there has only been one no-hitter this year. There were 7 last year.

It's all good. I knew they weren't going to sweep but there were some rough moments in this one. Just game day observations.

Not like anyone is saying the season is over, we are just game by game. And in this game there were some things that cost us THIS game. The playoffs and division are all but locks.

That what I was doing back in June when some jumped all over me..
Giving game by game observation and they were actually playing bad baseball then..

This is why you match Jake up with their ace. Never know what you get and most teams can not match Hendricks and Lester with their 2-3 starters.

Like I said earlier, the winner of the WC will most likely have used their ACE in the WC game..
So , their "ACE" won't be available til game 3 NLDS

Cards lost. If I'm not mistaken that puts magic number at 13.

Let's just take SF as an example. I believe they are a 60% match up chance. The WC you have to believe that they will go with Bum. You don't risk a 1 game on Cuetto. Cuetto becomes to series opener with Shark pitching game 2.

If it is me I'm matching up Lester and Cuetto then Shark and Hendricks. Cubs should be up 2-0 and they would be forced to rush Bum into game 3 to save it. So Jake vs a short rest Bum you have to think sweep. If they pull one off you still have Lackey for game 4 vs what ever garbage they can pull off. This leaves Lester your game 5 or next series game 1. If it goes 5 Kyle starts the next series in Wrigg. Again advantage Cubs.

One thing I have learned is you don't count on wins or assume losses based on pitching matchups, who is 'hoot" whatever. Let's wait and let them play out. October could be a lot of fun, but one thing I will expect - a LOT of Cub fans will be panicking, bitching whining at some point.

If you're going to play say the Giants in the first round (which would suck), you're likely going to see

Cueto
Jeff Z
Bumgarner
Moore

To me, that sounds like you go

Arrieta
Hendricks
Lester
Lackey

I love Kyle, know that he dueled Bumgarner to basically even earlier this year in San Fran but I don't trust him in a pivotal game 3, on the road, against one of the five best pitchers in baseball. Hell, I don't trust really anyone in that situation but Lester has the experience plus the Giants only have one hitter (Pence) who has better splits against lefties than righties (I didn't look at Posey because he's a superstar who hits everyone; Belt is about neutral in terms of splits).

And the Giants in their careers against Lester

Span (35 PA)- .286/.429/.321
Pence (17 PA) - .200/.294/.400
Posey (17 PA) - .313/.353/.563
Crawford (12 PA) - .273/.333/.364
Belt (7 PA) - .000/.143/.000
Pagan (7 PA) - .000/.000/.000
Panik (5 PA)- .200/.200/.400
