That second strike hurt.
Been done quite a few times over the yearsCan anyone recall a game where a pitcher took the mount for the second time after being a positional player inbetween?
No
Night. Extra innings, i think.
Sounds like a normal game for themCubs are 1-9 with RISP tonight :-/
That wasnt even close. This ump has been completely inconsistent
1-11 RISP.... If the cubs ever fix this they will be scary. Probably will largely be overlooked because Matusz was shit but they had their chances tonight and didn't come thru.
He's been calling that far outside tonight. I don't agree with it but he's called the cubs out several times on pitches that far out.
Can that be fixed in your opinion?
Almora high average? I'll bet his career BA is .240 or lessProbably more of an experience thing but part of the problem in my eyes is the cubs are an OBP team more than an average team. So, they get lots of people on but often struggle to get hits. Case in point they have 6 walks and 5 hits tonight. Long term I still think a high average guy like Almora could be useful despite his lack of drawing walks. Heyward not hitting doesn't help matters though.

That's why it's called the minorsHe's hit .292/.325/.422 in the minors. I'd qualify .290 as "high average."
Cubs with RISP coming in to the game
.249/.354/.424 - 21.6% k rate
Cubs on the year
.254/.345/.427 - 21.6% k rate
Basically the Cubs are fine with RISP but in a further subsection, they've been terrible with two outs
2 out - RISP
.215/.349/.393 - 23.7% k rate
