Hammel as PH early. Wood in LF. Lackey warms in relief. Lester gets winning "hit".

That was a HUGE win.

Great, great job by the bullpen!

I would say Travis Wood gets the game ball. Without him, this game is over.

And you guys didn't want Matusz to start! Imagine how boring the game would have been if Hendricks started

Give Heyward his due. His baserunning got that W. Hustle to 2nd. Hustle to 3rd ahead of great throw. Hustles home. Huge.

Haha it's so weird. This game was won by all of the pitchers doing all kinds of crazy.

Yes, he gets "the belt" as the Hawks would say.

Rondon's pitching was a big key. 4th outing in 5 games, and he goes two perfect innings. Nice.

Maddon, too....that whole sequence changed the game. The Cubs were sleep walking until Maddon started his crazy moves with Wood.

7.5 game lead on the Cardinals (largest division lead in baseball)
2.5 game lead on the Giants/Nationals for #1 seed in the NL
Best record in baseball

If this win sparks them (and I think it might) then they're perfectly set up to stretch their legs.

I said it earlier in the game but good teams find ways to claw the way back into that game. What you wanna see from a team that is suppose to be a WS favorite.

Great game, quintessential Joe Maddon kind of game, with the added satisfaction of a Card loss today.

It feels like one of those games that could lead to a little run that expands the division lead.

Cards tied it on huge gift from Marlins, and I was sure they'd end up winning it.

Then the Cards gave the Marlins a gift with a misplayed flyball that became walkoff triple. So nice to see. Their OF D is terrible. Well, so is the IF D.

Considering the one with the Sox a four games series split, we are yet to lose one series in the second half

I'm just going to pretend Matusz starting was Maddon's way of team building by making 22 of he 25 men on the roster play with one other warming up and another as a possible pinch runner/hitter.
