Schwarber cost us there.
Always gotta be one.... [emoji19]
Well let see, he has 21 RBI
He plays off bench and has 45 to 90 less PA then these regulars thst are supposed to be driving in runs ..
Jay 252 PA 21 RBI
Baez 297 PA 45 RBI
Russell 348 PA 36 RBI
Schwarber 339 PA 36 RBI
Heyward 309 PA 39 RBI
Zobrist 316 PA 32 RBI
I would say he hanging right in there with these bad boys....
How about we try runs scored, since you brought up RBIs ..
Remember now 45 to 90 less PA then these guys...
Jay 35 RS
Baez 43 RS
Russell 46 RS
Schwarber 42 RS
Heyward 36 RS
Zobrist 34 RS
So, I think you lose that argument as Jay runs production pace is as good or better then 5 regulars with 45 - 90 more PA then him.....

Imagining Lackey reaction if he was on mound for that miscue...

THOSE miscueS
P.S. A single later in the game won't offset the run given up.
So, tell me again how this kid got pounded in his first start and cubs should have a field day against him...

So you'd rather see players who are "under performing" play everyday over some one who not ? Got it [emoji6]Your defense of your boy is to point out that he is well behind players who are underperforming?
Nobody is posting daily that Zobrist is playing well, yet you brag on Jay and point out that he is playing worse. Ditto Schwarber, whose troubles sre discussed daily. But you are bragging about your guy.
And as I type, Jay once again freezes on a ball as it comes off the bat, and it costs a run. Hard to judge when hit straight at you, but he never gets a good jump on a ball. Always slow to get started. Ball hits short of the track, but over his head. Every other guy who has played CF for us this year catches that ball.
Jay play was far from being a miscue..THOSE miscueS
P.S. A single later in the game won't offset the run given up.
Ok.....lolYou really need to pay more attention. It's been this team's MO since 2015.....if they haven't faced a guy before, they have trouble. Doesn't seem to matter who it is either.
Scouting issue?
Kinda my point..I don't ever fall for that. A guy you've never seen, or as like call guys like that "whatever the **** his name is", are often the toughest matchups in your season. Lack of scouting and the baseball gods contribute equally to that.
Ok.....lol
You guys crack me up

Well first of all, that not a good thing if they always struggle against a pitcher they see the first time, especially if a team or teams just went off on him previously...Why is that? Every time it happens you act surprised by it and it happens a lot.
I get all that as I explained above...Pretty straightforward. These guys are given tons of data on pitchers they're facing that day and when there's less data they don't hit as well. It's not unique to the Cubs either. I think the more stats heavy teams all struggle with it where the guys and teams who use less of that do well against guys they've never seen. Giancarlo Stanton has famously said he reads zero data on a pitcher's location, velo, etc. He watches a little film and then just reacts. Different ways of preparing have different holes in approach.
