How can you expect your manager to trust you when you can't even lock down a game leading by 6 in the 8th. Could've saved the pen but no, another lifeless outing. Warren is just marginally better than Richard.

Fowler is getting a MRI so I doubt he will play for a few days at least.

I was looking at some of the players and Almora has been bringing it at this level so far. This maybe a opertunity to see what he brings to CF every day.

Just the thought of Heyward and Almora out there every day makes the OF exciting.

Hitting wise he is a high contact hitter. Walk and SO% have to be 20% combined. That means he is putting the ball into play more and would Benifit hitting 6-7 in the line up over 1-2. This puts Zobrist as the lead off. Russell could be a option leading off also. Walk ratio.

I did not mind seeing a OF of Bryant, Almora and Heyward. That D covers a lot of ground

Again the depth of this team is tested and its all good. You have Almora Jr, Heyward, Bryant, Baez, and Szczur who can all play every position in the OF. I love this team because you don't miss even a .300 hitter who is hitting at least .700 OPS. So not only can we afford to lose Fowler, but I don't think the team will even lose a step. So this team has weathered significant injuries with Soler, Schwarber, LaStella, and now Fowler going on the DL for extended periods. These guys aren't going to have jobs when they get back...

They won't. It's Fox...no one of any significance works for Fox. It's easier to either watch in silence or sync up with the radio call.

This is what I do because I live in NC and inexplicably DirectTV blacked out all of the Nationals games so I had to watch the Nationals announcers and they are as annoying as they come as far with the homer broadcast. The guys calling the games had pet names for half the players and fawned over them like 13 year old girls. So I found the Score radio broadcast on the web and watched the game with the sound down. Thank God for the internet because I almost couldn't take listening to these assholes...

I wouldn't underestimate losing Fowler for any length of time. That said win 2 of 3 from the Cardinals and you can weather the storm with a lot of wiggle room. 13.5 games is a lot to come back from.

Great job, Willson! HR on 1st MLB AB.

Man he hit his first MAJOR LEAGUE PITCH out to center. Guy can play third base and Im sure first too. We need to get him in the lineup. I'll bet he starts tonight against the Cards...

He will catch tonight. That was said by Maddon yesterday before the game. They wanted him to be with Lackey because he can basically call his own game. Also, whats with he can play other positions? He has played 8 games at third in 4 years. The Cubs are deep at third. Baez is also completely dominating defense over there. Contreras is here to learn how to call and frame a game. He isnt up here to play random positions. Catching is an incredibly difficult position to learn and to do it well.

And Lackey mainly throws fastballs so not a real difficult game to call. He's definitely the catcher for the future. But I think the future is now that's why he's in the bigs...Ross has played great and will continue to catch the majority of games. He has won a World Series. What better teacher for the future of the franchise? Montero hasn't been able to throw anyone out. Contreras has a gun and has had great success throwing out men stealing. It drove me crazy to watch Lester totally fazed by baserunners. This could be a problem...

C'mon man this isn't the 1969 Cubs. For one thing neither St Louis nor the Bucs are the 69' Mets...

yeah losing Fowler will hurt but were so deep that we can weather the storm way better than most teams. Fowler will not be on the team next year likely anyway...

Agreed man but losing a 12 1/2 game lead in June will not happen. St Louis doesn't have the arms to take down the Cubs and with their starting pitching they will not crash and burn. If they do, I am done being a Cubs fan because the team is most definitely cursed :)

This has nothing to do with being a "Cubs fan". It has to do with common sense.
