Its just where baseball has gone, off the field and onto the computer. Word of the year in 2016 was Surreal, made famous by millennials. Surreal was a word the 50 and over crowd deserved to use. Now its not what happens on the field, but what a computer says should have happened. This is still a game played by men. Then you get the crowd that wants to define to the cent what it takes to stay out of the luxury tax, for an owner that bought this team for 900 million and is now worth 2.9 billion a few years later. So rich, they are looking at buying a fucking soccer team. But when Manny Machados name comes up, **** yes, lets get him. We will hear it about Kershaw and Harper and any other free agent who has a good half season this year. How is any of this current underachieving core going to be able to resign here? How will we keep Russell, Baez and Contrares if everyone wants the hottest name out there. Its really sad that this "core" has 5 more years of this crap to listen to because they are always going to pull and they are always going to be bad at getting a runner home with less than 2 outs from third base.
People forget the game not played on paper and no matter what statistics show, they still need to perform on the field...

Its about wins and losses, not where they rank in the league

In April it was wait til it gets warm, it got warm and now its wait til the 2nd half...

As i mentioned, outside the 2 week stretch where they got hot against the Giants Pirates Mets and Phillies all below 500 teams , they have played 500 ball..

Outside of Lester, the SP is questionable right now..

The offense has been bland all month..
Everyone keeps chirping how their top in RS and average 5 per game..
In 21 games this month they scored 5 or more 6 times..
2 or less 11 times, including being shutout 3 times.
3.61 runs per game this month

They were lucky enough to flip the switch last year and have a monster 2nd half along with the Brewers sucking ass to fall back..

Odds are against them being able to flip that switch again and go apes in the 2nd half, theyll improve but it just might not be enough..
the Brewers look to be a much stronger team this year and if they decide to add that SP, theyll be stronger.

Im as big a homer as they come with this team, but when it just dont look right im not going to pretend it does...
I need to see results in the win column and those results have basically been at a 500 pace.

They need this one today, going to be a tougher series in LA and then the Twins..
Brewers got it easier this week with the Royals and Reds

Dont want to fall back in the standings to much before the break

Yesterday Maddon said he gave Bryant the day off because he needed a rest day after playing in the day night DH..

Today he has a tired shoulder from swinging the bat too much...

LMAO

Boy, I hope we can hold a five-run lead, here. It would be nice to see Monty pitch 8, or even (gasp) a complete game. That would be a helluva lift for the 'pen, especially after yesterday.

And, frankly, even though every coach and player will say a loss is a loss, you say "fine, tough shit" and move on, it really does make a difference, especially on getaway day. That long flight to L.A. will build into a better frame of mind for facing the Dodgers if it comes after a win, not a losing series sweep... ;)

Be tough for him to go deep, 6 innings has been his max ..
As we just saw as pitches get higher, he'll be less affective
