What time did this game end? I turned it off at the beginning of the rain delay thinking there was no chance they could resume.

10:30

They made a comeback and tied it at 6. Beer Pride came in beating his chest. They immediately give up 4 runs and lose. Coincidence? I think not.

First bunt was an easy out if he knew the opposing batters speed...which he obviously didn't given the way he forced the play. Plus the fact that I believe both walks scored....regardless of what kind of hit knocked them in. Can't see much of an endorsement of anything he did out there.

My point was that there are other times when he looks lights out on the mound....he's gotta drive Maddon nuts with his inconsistency. Kind of like how Marmol was.
Have to disagree with the Marmol comparison. .
Strop is no where near where Marmol was at end of his Cubs tenure. .

Before yesterday, Strop has gone 13 games and 13 innings between given up runs in his appearances.
So, 13 G 13 IP 4 H 5 BB 0 Runs in between the 2 games in which he given up runs..

Then to even further that comparison , before those 2 back to back bad games he had 14/15 games ago he went.... he went 17 Games where he only gave up 1 run..

So, in his last 30 of 34 games he didn't give up a run
15 walks in those 34 games..

he not even close to marmol..

Marmol as a closer or Marmol in the 8th? Marmol in the 8th may have been one of the best relievers in Cubs history. Marmol as a closer. Not so much

You missed the point. I never said one was better than the other. I'm talking inconstancy....the comparison is valid.

Strop gets blamed for loses because he is a set up man. He comes in in high stress/low room for fail situations.

Looking over the numbers it just proves that he is human. That is all. He is not a bad pitcher by any means. He is just higher profile due to the situations he is put in.

The only other guy in his shoes is Grimm. Neither have a 0.00 era going so that makes them human and bound to give up leads due to being in tough situations vs guys that come in with a margin for error that fly under the radar

Who out there actually feels confident when Strop comes into a tied or one run game? Be honest.

The only thing I'm confident in is that he'll walk at least one hitter and if the opposition is patient, he'll walk even more. Does he get stressed? I'm sure he does but any pitcher in the major leagues should be able to throw a strike at any time.

I have lots of confidence in Strop. Every pitcher is going to have a bad outing every now and then.

We only notice BP pitchers when they fail. Not when they succeed.

What pedro strop do you watch on the cubs ?

Besides not given up a run in 30 of 34 appearances, he only given up a walk in 8 of his last 21 appearances and only 3 of those times he walked 2 batters.

you only notice set up men when they mess up , otherwise cause they dont get the saves or notoriety when they hold a lead you don't realize how good they been.

Pedro Strop been near great as a set up this year.. not sure how you can find a reason to complain about him.

Chase Utley to the Dodgers for a couple of mid level prospects. Its not completely official yet but they have an agreement. We can stop with the Chase Utley talk.

The difference is when Strop screws up, he gives up multiple runs. It's not one run and the game is tied, he blows the lead and gives up the game.

Including yesterday, he given up multiple runs 5 times in last 40 appearance. .

Like i mentioned, he only given up a run 4 times in last 34 appearances. .

SO ??? your gonna piss in his cereal cause he mightve blown a lead or tie game 4 times in his last 34 appearances. .
Come on... ?

Ummm, why are y'all fighting over Strop. It was clearly not his fault last night. Beer Pride made that debacle happen.
