My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Minnesota United FC
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
And they swept their main rival in the wild card too.

This team is hot and Joe Maddon is hitting all of the right buttons. What a team. It's nice for baseball to matter again on the north side.

And Diehard....Dave Strader must be the editor of MLB.com :lmao:

You can only try to beat the team you're playing.

I get that. But that was geared to the "why is Boston etc getting more love"

They are beating up below .500 teams.

Not a knock on them at all. But if they were sweeping the Cards then it would get the head lines

They have been beating teams that they should beat right now.

Don't want to knock it but they are not playing the Cards or the Dodgers right now. They are beating the Crew and the Sox.
Well it's a good thing you pooped on the party, CSF. :D

Dont get me wrong. What they are doing right now is dominate.

But from a national point of view: the Cubs will get attention from who they play.

Even on MLB NW they will do bits on Schwarber more than the team. Mostly on his exit speed.

Give it time. Next year they should grab more. But you have to look at it as they sold the team and built the farm for a few years. Right now they have no track record of success to push the ratings on a national scene.

They are not a National product like NYY, LAD, Bos., etc are due to their track record.

They faced a SF team that had won 16 of 21, and they beat them 4 straight.

This isn't the Kane County Cougars winning 15 out of 16, it's a major league team beating other major league teams. If it's that unremarkable, why aren't more teams doing it?

C'mon. You know as well as I do that the national media is a joke who constantly ride the coat tails of the east coast teams and occasional a California team. It took the White Sox blowing by the Angels to finally get some notice from them in 2005. I'm not a Sox fan but I really enjoyed the way they blew it up the national media's ass by winning it all in 2005.

That's the big difference....Cubs gotta make the playoffs. East coast teams are media darlings whether they win or lose.

I don't buy it, and I refuse to whine like a Cardinal fan.

In St. Louis, they simultaneously whine that ESPN schedules them so often on Sunday nights, while whining that ESPN doesn't give them enough love.

I just saw a feature on Joe Maddon on SportsCenter a few minutes ago. The Cubs get enough love. True the Mets and Blue Jays were the bigger story while all three were on their hot streaks. But I am OK with that for now.

As long as they're talking about the Cubs at the end of the year, we're in good shape.

With the massive number of transplanted Chicagoans all around the US and the original WGN Superstation coverage, the Cubs have been a national product for decades. The Cubs just have to keep winning and make the playoffs. They will get a ton of press in the off-season, too, if that happens. Winners earn press coverage. Let me rephrase that. Consistent winners earn press coverage.

Wow. Sounds like a bunch of homers propping up the team.

Dude the team has more noterity from losing vs winning.

They have to prove they are a winning product first.

KC was in the same boat last year. Now they are getting some love. Now not as much as they should though. They have the best record in the AL and the Jays were getting more love due to their trades.

Come on now and step back from the rail

Last year this team was fighting for the first pick and all of a sudden they should be the media darlings? Come on now.

Just be glad that they are getting any news.

I don't know why people get so upset about what teams media does or doesn't talk about. Ultimately their goal isn't to be unbiased. It's to get ratings. Facts are the cubs only recently started bringing in the ratings. They were down drastically last season. Ultimately they will start to run with the same story they did in Theo's time in boston of breaking the curse but no one really expected the cubs to be that good this year. I'd imagine next year they over hype the shit out of them in pre-season.

Dont know about the NNY fans and RED SOX fans but I would bet there's more Cubs fans nationally than Dodgers fans.

Which then puts the pressure on the guys to repeat or best what they have done this year.

They will get all of the headlines in the world when they start knocking off the King of the Hill in St. Louis.

That is what they are looking at in the windshield right now.
