Someone should tell Maddon that..
He has 5 LHers in lineup

Almora Contreras Russell only RHers

That was the deal with Corbin, lefties hit .274 off him, probably because he faces so few. Seems they got the numbers mixed, but with Baez and Bryant out and neither to DL, cant get Bote back yet.

I always found it interesting that like in this case RHers hit him much better then lefties, that a SHer would still bat LH over RH..

Guess if they did that, they would be uncomfortable with the different look..
Be a good question to ask them

Man Happ has some flaws in his game but he has some MONSTER numbers if you look at his splits. April was a disaster where he had a 6.8%/44.6% bb/k rate, a .246/.297/.406 and a 89 wRC+. Then things got weird. Those numbers went to 21.3%/35.0%, 18.4%/34.5%, 19.4%/25.8% in May, June, and July for bb/k rate, .226/.400/.581, .268/.402/.352, and .300/.435/.540 for triple slash and his wRC+ went 148, 109, 162. I'm a stickler for K rate issues so i'm not ignoring that problem but that walk rate is disgusting. Barry Bonds' career walk rate is 20.3% for some perspective here and since May Happ is running a 19.7% walk rate. The 32.3% k rate needs to come down but if it does he's going to be a potential MVP type bat. He's hitting .262/.410/.481 since may(137 wRC+). If we say 25% k rate is a reasonable goal for him to get to, that's roughly 17 PAs that would end differently than they have. That'd give him roughly 3 more walks and 5 more hits based on his walk rate/babip which would push his triple slash to .290/.440/.500+. This season there's only 2 players even close to a .440 OBP and they are Mookie Betts(.351/.437/.668) and Mike Trout(.305/.457/.599). The next closest guy is Votto with an OBP of .416.

He might have to trade some power for contact to get that 25% K rate but even if he does he's still a pretty scary guy.

He gets deeper into counts and has for the most part ended about 45% of the time (now) not put the ball into play. I think that he needs to be a tad more agressive at the plate and hunt fastballs

I’m kinda fine with Bote at AAA right now. They have him at SS for the most part and that is worth investing time into.

not with the way Maddon uses his 25 men. I doubt KB will play for a week, retroactive DL to his last game and he is back Thursday. I know KB played a few games in the outfield when he came off the DL, do not know if that was saving his shoulder or not, but when it keeps swelling up something is going on in there.

Early lineup has Bote batting 9th playing 2B, and Happ batting 5th playing third. I hope thats a typo. Only way to guarantee that is to post the scoreboard pic.

We really need to credit this organization for it's remarkable depth. They went into the season expecting to be 9 deep in starting pitching with Lester, Darvish, Hendricks, Quintana, Chatwood, Butler, Tseng, Montgomery and Alzolay and have struggled to have 5. They've had several of their key players miss significant time with injury including, Bryant, Morrow, Edwards and Darvish and yet have a 2/12 game Divisional lead on 7/26 and the best record in the NL on a pace to 95 wins. As long as everyone is healthy by the first week or September or so none of these injuries will diminish their chances in October. Contrast that with a team like Washington who looked to be the deeper team going in and it's really quite an achievement.

Notice how often Cubs players run through the 3rd base coach's stop sign? That's a problem with the player or the coach. WTF is Maddon doing to fix that?

Are we done with this asshole after today?????????

Walks fucking Descalsco, and allows a grand slam.

Enough!!!!!

If you can't throw strikes, we don't need you. Period.

There's nothing else to evaluate. If you are going to a) Walk 5+ per game and b) require 4+ innings per game from the pen, we do not have a place for you!!
