AFAIK the cubs never protested against playing on. From what I read the hurdle was it flat out wasn't in the rules and they had to trump up a "malfunction" as the reasoning for why to continue it to begin with. I mean I honestly don't care either way myself but the thing is this is the first time in like 20 years they have reversed a ruling so that should tell you something.

First time since 1986 since a team won an appeal

Was mentioned that a small reason why appeal was approved was because the cubs didn't object to it and was ok with continuing the game.

I would think so cause the official restart time was set at 4:00 which now is in a 60 minutes delay...

This game is now officially in over a 5 hour rain delay

I hope they play the last half of the 5th inning and then the rest of the game gets PPD lol. This game would not be played if the Giants were up 2-0 instead, that's what is dumb about it. If the Cubs were also in a playoff race I'd be angry, but the outcome really doesn't matter
