I just tuned in and saw Padres get three. I see here that “Monty’s been in trouble every inning” and “there was no reason to pull him”.

There were a lot guys on base. But I wouldn't have pulled him at only 75 pitches. He kept getting out of the jams. IMO he was pulled too early.

There were a lot guys on base. But I wouldn't have pulled him at only 75 pitches. He kept getting out of the jams. IMO he was pulled too early.

Monty is the new Hendricks. I was bouncing between show, bears and cubs most of the evening, and each time I tuned in it seemed the padres had 2 men on and 1 out.

It is stuck in Joes mind that he has to save Monty, even though he has started 49 games in his 2 year career. So, not watching everything and seeing so many runners and only 75 pitches figured there was alot of stress in this start.

and the dodgers are 5-5 over the last 10, not like Machado is carrying the team, but I really do not know how you justify paying him 20 some milliion dollars when Baez might break a million next year.

My point here was i think we seen the best of Russell already and i wouldn't be heartbroken if they moved on from him next year, whether it Machado or someone else

I wouldn't either but Machado has been flat out bad defensively at SS. I really did want him for next season but $250 plus mil to downgrade significantly on D, even with the offensive benefits, simply isn't worth it to me.

That 250m will be needed to pay Bryant, Baez, Conty and others especially if the Cubs want to stay under the cap

He's also not exactly tearing up the league with his bat. He's a damn rental...whatever they expected to get out of him, they need him to do it now. He's on the clock.
