Again I would go with trends. Not a set line up.

If Rizzo OBA is.250 for the past 2 weeks. That means he is an out 75% of the time. Those are bad odds and it doesn't justify more AB's.

That is just an example.

Again it is just going with the hot hand.

Ok.i dont disagree but again their only 3 games in..
Too soon to be worrying about trends now , if their still struggling next week then yes he should reconsider his line up.

Castro looks lost at the plate. He'll turn it around, but it's painful to watch atm.

Rizzo looked like he was trying to play the wind. Nice pitch, good contact..."one more biscuit for breakfast..."

Wood looking good early.

Meh, it's early on in the first game of the series. I think the Cubs have a shot at winning two - but I'm kind of a 'one game at a time' guy.

MLB has a LONG way to go on this replay stuff. Barney clearly hit on the arm, ruled a foul tip...can't challenge?

Good for Barney for getting a hit after. I would've been thrown out when I flipped off the ump running to first.

When does Castro's start to the season go from "it's early" and instead "oh shit..."? The reason I ask this is kind of related to another topic which I've discussed in length. That's Baez at SS long term. Let's say Castro is hitting as poorly as last year by the end of may. Baez probably is going to get called up in late june early july. I'll fully admit I'm not on the Castro bandwagon as some. I just think he's more of a bottom of the order type hitter than a 1/2 slot guy. However, if he continues to struggle it seems difficult for me to believe they will keep sending him out every day at SS once Baez comes into the equation. I could see him splitting time at 2B with Barney.

Admittedly, it is early but his strike outs are up from last season(21.4% + whatever from today vs 18.3% last year and his good years were in the 14% range). I don't want to psycho analyze too much here but if anything worries me about him going forward it's k's. If he were making good contact and just hitting into defenders it would be less worrying to me.

Yeah, Valbuena needs to come up w/ that catch. No reason not to. 2-1 Cubbies after a short-hop gets by Castro.

If Baez is hitting and playing quality D at SS and Castro is hitting .250 there is no debate here.

Now the smart move is to sell high value with Castro but low production doesn't justify playing time.
