Weren’t you the one complaining about him just like 2 weeks ago? lol

I like Steel. Sure you are kinda right as he runs a 4 seem and a slider. Adding a knuckle curve makes sense if he is going up in the zone.

To me mid 90's lefties should be groomed. If he busts that is fine.

Miley is only here for a year. The need for a lefty still remains.

Kilian I just don't see Jed jump starting. Mid June is as good as it gets.

Reality.

Mills gets a game in. Miley around May 1-15. After that Jed has to choose Steel or Mills. Steel is the better talent.

After that Jed could just showcase Miley until July. Deal him and promote Kilian.

The point is no I don't see this glaring need to curb him in the pen. If anything he should be working on a knuckle curve between starts

Wicks, Marquez, and Herz are all lefties. I've seen you mention Wicks will be fast tracked multiple times. I'm fine with giving STEELE opportunities to start but if it becomes clear he's not cut out for it, I'd rather have him in the pen than destroy his confidence

Regardless you don't hinge your play off run on a AAA starter. Cubs are better off playing for next year. Get Kilian 5 MLB starts. Let him absorb the difference and give him a spot next year.

W/E.

Yet again you don't hinge your season on a. What is in now a A+ pitcher. Ya he should be fast tracked. Most feel this way. The only person who matters is Jed Hoyer and he has not said 'fast track'

Yet again Steele it is.

Worst case here

They push button Kilian.

He pushes them into a chase.

A. Blows his arm.
B. Runs in to the Mark Prior delema
1. Shut down and fan base goes nuts.
2. Keep pushing and see A above.

These are far more common scenarios.

The best scenerio is keep the pressure low. Let the kid get his work in with out panic. Let's face reality this is a mid power ranking team on a good review. One bad series they are ass canned to the back.

No need to put that pressure on anyone much less a kid that never toed up on a MLB mound when the games mean something.

Thus keep to the plan get his work in. Make the promotion as a natural progression vs a life saver.

If the Cubs get that good. Then trade for a rental. Makes far more sense

What is all this? Killian isnt coming up soon. You looking more towards middle to the end of the season. Also, he isnt considered a staff Ace. He is a mid rotation type.

Even if for some reason they get into a play off slot David will carry only 4 Starters. It would be Hendricks, Stroman, Miley, Smyly.

The rest fight for the right to sit in the pen.

So if you want to up from those 4 great. Makes sense and the Cubs have enough depth to rent a TOR with out killing the cow.

What do you want me to argue? That your hypothetical would end differently?

No. Just admit that expecting Kilian to come up and make this team a play off team is crazy talk.

That is all

So just enjoy a team that does better than expected. Stop trying to push unrealistic goals.

If they keep in the play off race then we can talk about who is on the market and who would 'you' be willing to give up for it.

I am not even expecting that much. I expect .500 play and a few players sold to bolster the farm more and the first wave replacing.

And I am good with that.

Villar with the rough start. Both balls he should have been able to knock down, but should have least got 1

Stroman looks like total garbage again. Very disappointing. I'm sure he'll tweet after the game.

3 errors didn't help. I would guess the wet conditions made the ball slick.
