Cubs got on base 9 times in 12 innings. The prospects can't come up soon enough. You could put the blame on the bullpen for the past two games but their hitters are often killing them. It's frustrating to see because of games like tonight.

I said before , any production from RF 3B and 2B and they have a decent offense

I'm sort of hoping they can package Hammel and Barney to some contender in need of pitching within the next month. At this point I'd rather give Watkins a shot if they aren't ready to call up Baez/Alcantara. That would then allow Valbuena to play more at 3B if Olt isn't getting the job done. Wont solve the RF problems but perhaps they can get a semi-decent guy back in the Hammel trade along with presumably a Arrieta type starter.

I wouldn't mind seeing Chris Valaika cone up and play 2B now.. im sure they won't do this but id like to see bryant go to Iowa now and play RF til mid june , then have him and baez come up together. Put baez at 3B and bryant in RF , only problem with that is they'd have to get a LH bat for Left so their not RH heavy. .

I don't think they will elevate prospects as fast as we would like. There's been a lot of banter about the Jays going after Shark but if the cubs could instead deal Barney and Hammel(they also need 2B help) for Anthony Gose and a starter be it Sanchez or Stroman I sort of like that deal. Gose is a lefty and young(24) which should mesh well with the players they have coming up since even if he isn't a starter he's probably a decent option off the bench. He's shown the ability to walk in the minors which I'm sure this front office would like.

Gose is more a CF but you could push Lake or Bonifacio to RF. Granted the team will lack a lot of power but Gose is sorta similar to Bonifacio in terms of speed. And with Bryant and Baez coming up soon-ish they will get back some of the missing power.

It's like spinning your tires in the mud. Get a player, dump a player. Get a player, dump a player.

At this pace, does anyone have a new timeline that the Cubs will get close to .500 for the year let alone be competitive? With the way the prospects are playing and/or that they are injured, the all-eggs-in-a-basket thing isn't looking too promising. Of course, I guess it could change.

To all who said that Soriano and A-Ram started off slowly.......brace yourselves, because Baez appears to be no different. :yep:

Well think of it this way, I'm saying Hammel not Shark. Hammel is on a 1 year deal. I would suggest Jackson but we both know there's no way he has that kind of trade value. The way I see it is Hammel is the type of player who you can replace in FA next offseason because they have done it the past 3 seasons. Plus, they REALLY need some outfielders and this potentially would give them a bench or better OF and a decent starter prospect as a return.

To be clear, I'm not really keen on trading Shark right now because I really don't think they can get back the value needed to make the deal worth while. I'd prefer they hold on to him at the moment and look to replace someone like Hammel with someone like Masterson in FA.

As I have said. He has never played in cold weather before. I would have thought he would have adjusted to it by now.

Sad game to again see shark get no run support. He got the curse this year. Wood had it last year.

On the RF banter. They should just let Kalish man it after they trade Schierholtz. Long term I still believe they are targeting Soler there. Up until then Kalish is a decent filler LH bat to split up the RH. Also they have Sweeney who has more power than Kalish.

Just see how this year evolves

Not sure on trading Hammel or Shark.

I believe Hammel would be easier to extend here. Shark if he drops the no trade bit would be ideal. Still believe Arreita has top of the rotation potential so he back fills the loss.

All depends on the return.

Still any one who says shark is not looking like a major league ace right now needs to check themselves

CSF77, Ace? What's your definition of an Ace? How many Aces are there?

He pitched really well last night. If there was no wind he'd have given up about 4 as the wind held in quite a few taters

123 pitches and kept his team in it.

Ace is that type. Work horse. Keeps his team in the game. Can't get him out of the game.

Garza said that all 29 teams would want him on their team. There is a reason for that.

Anyways he has had ace type stuff and a bull dog mentality. This is the first year he has put it together. Sadly you put a major league quality team to back him this convo would not happen and it would be about him pushing wins.

1 non quality start so far. No wins to show. That is on the rest of the team.
