Its time to put the Drake Maye talk to bed...... he finished 16 of 36 with 1TD and 1NT

In his first competition against a fairly decent team - UNranked Clemson - he laid another egg.

He has a QBR of 79 and that will only go lower after this game.

Meanwhile guys like Bo Nix, Jayden Daniels, JJ McCarthy, Caleb Williams, Mike Penix --- all have QBR's around 90 or more..... all have more touchdown passes (except McCarthy) and have less PICKS than Maye -- only Penix has 1 more pick but Penix has a higher QBR and 7 more TD's.

So you want to get rid of Fields? At least pick the right guy then. Hitch your wagon to Bo Nix. Hitch it to Jayden Daniels. But stop it with the Drake Maye hype machine stuff. The guy is simply not top shelf and falls short when measured against other potential other 1st rounders.

I am not saying he should not be drafted in the first round.... but he has "project" written all over him because of how inaccurate he is. There is no way he should go before being the 3rd or 4th QB off the board.... at best.

He simply misses too many guys and he turns the ball over waaay too much..... meanwhile guys like Bo Nix are spinning it at record numbers -- close to 400 yards and 6 td's for Bo Nix today.

This guy has overdraft/bust potential (Zach Wilson, Trey Lance, etc.), written all over him.

In his first competition against a fairly decent team - UNranked Clemson - its in the 4th quarter and he is 13 of 28 and his team is behind 3 scores.

His numbers will look better by the time the game ends but its garbage time. Down 3 scores and with the game out of reach, Maye will pad his stats but the game is a wrap.

Maye is benefitting from a hype machine but in truth, he should go nowhere near the top pick. I think a team should draft him in the first but he should be the 3rd or 4th QB off the board.... at best.

Hampton fumbled at the 3 to destroy a drive and fumbled another one through the end zone for a touchback. That’s 14 points squandered. Football is a team game.

Maye is 16/35 so 46% completion rate. He is clearly one of the main reasons UNC is losing.

Hampton fumbled away points he created as he has almost 200 yards rushing ie he has been the reason they have had scoring chances.

Having said that one game doesnt prove anything but Maye has stunk today.

How does the complexion of the game change if they convert those 14 points? It certainly puts the team and Maye in a much better position.

Having to chase the lead on the road when you have a shit defense is far from ideal.

Can't change 46% completion rate no matter the situation. Give me JJ McCarthy. At least he went through eh gauntlet of BG10 competition

So he is throwing incomplete passes because he is trailing? The dude has been inaccurate today. It is what it is. I went to UNC and watch every game and attend a few every year. I have seen Drake Maye at his best where he has lit it up even when behind and with a shit D. This is simply a terrible fucking performance by him.

You’re a smart guy. You don’t think how a defense is going to play him and what might be available doesn’t shift if you’re winning or tied?

Playing uphill on the road is tough.

The wheels came off. As I have been saying, he was doing it against poor teams. Clemson is not good but at least they were a better test. And Maye laid an egg.

Here is my chief take:

So you want to get rid of Fields? At least pick the right guy then. Hitch your wagon to Bo Nix. Hitch it to Jayden Daniels. But stop it with the Drake Maye hype machine stuff. The guy is simply not top shelf and falls short when measured against other potential other 1st rounders.

Maye's inaccuracy is flat out scary. The bust potential is very high with him.

Clemson actually has a very good D, they should have 5-6 players taken in the first 3 rounds this upcoming draft, including a corner in the top 15.

Issue isn't really 1 game, its that these guys all barely play real D's and when they do they look like dogshit. Why I would hate to evaluate these QB's. The talent is clear but how can you tell if it will translate to the NFL when they feast on bottom tier D's.

I’m actually becoming a fan of Nix the more I watch him play. Steady, accurate. Moore, MH, Kmet and a better OL and he could do well.

Who the hell knows tho. I’m also a fan of Maye, and acknowledge he didn’t play well tonight.

Another guy feasting on trash pass D's.

Guy is having a great season but he's also played like 5 out of the 12 worst defenses in CFB

Bo is a 5th year senior who has the most starts in NCAA history by a wide margin, so he better be feasting by now in his career. But that also makes it hard to translate his performance this year to the pro game.

You can only play the team lined up against you. We’ll see how he does. I think he can be a pretty good pro.

Not saying he will or won't be bad, jus that all these QB's play against trash on a weekly basis.

I have the same issue with caleb/penis jr since they play in the same conference. Zero D played at all.
