I've been a Forte fan but he stinks in between tackles

It makes pretty good logical sense to me

It is logical to have a good ol but some folks say the ol is not the handicap here when it comes to certain players

He needs to be more involved in the passing game.

Forte is having a 2009esque season. Bush is more useful to us as of now, at least running the ball until forte breaks out of his slump/gets healthier

I said it on the CBMB and got skewered for it but I will say it again here. The biggest problem with Forte has been his inability to pick up short yardage. During the whole 'Pay Forte' fiasco I kept saying that the guy has value but you can't overpay for him. He is a good back, he can be a productive back but he is not a complete back and probably never will be. You can blame the blocking all you want but this has been a problem for as long as he has played. If you look at his TD stats it bears my opinions out. We have gone through a parade of backs trying to fill the hole that Forte should be filling, as our feature back.

I'm not ripping on Forte, he is a good back, an above average one IMHO but he is not a top tier back like a lot of people have stated in the past. He is no AP, no Adrian Foster, even Marshawn Lynch can be counted on to get short yardage. Forte can be effective but for some reason the Bears have forgotten his pass catching ability out of the backfield. He is effective in open space and that is how he should be utilized but instead we have ignored that. Seems like a waste of money to me.

Forte had a very good year in 2010 and he was having an elite type year last season until he was injured. He was on pace t gain over 2000 yards from scrimmage in 2011. The only difference this season is Tice has no idea how to use him which is ridiculous considering Tice has been here 3 years now. Forte was being talked up as an MVP candidate last season.

Forte is not a power back. He never was. But if you use him the right way he can be one of the best offensive weapons in the NFL. I pointed it out several weeks ago that last season, 1/3 of his runs were wide around the end. That accounted for close to 1/2 his rushing yards. This season he is only running wide 1/4 of the time and that accounts for only 1/3 of his rushing yards. Tice has no idea how to get him involved in the passing game even though Ron Turner, who isn't a good OC, knew how to use him as a receiving threat out of the backfield. There have been quite a few games in Forte's career where even though his rushing game was shut down, he would still have over 100 yards receiving. That's not happening this season.

And of course the Bears offensive line sucks. If Forte had any kind of hole to run through between the tackles he would be getting a lot of yards. The Bears line was completely manhandled by the Seahawks defensive line today in the running game. I didn't see any holes at all where Forte could have run through.

Tice took a potential MVP candidate from last season and shut him down. Chris Johnson on the Titans had a new OC last season and everyone was ragging on him for lack of production. It wasn't until the fifth game or so of this season that the OC figured out how to call plays that CJ could be successful at and he's been playing very good since then. Anyway, that's what I read, it was pointed out by some scouts in the NFL, not me. Coaches are supposed to put their players into a position where they can succeed and Forte doesn't have that here this season.

I think we should've used him today as a WR. and I'm serious. Put Bush in the backfield, and split Forte out wide.
Yeah I was thinking the same thing today cuz we dont have with Jeffery and Hester out a #2 wr..

Forte isn't as beastly as Lynch or Peterson, but he's got nowhere to go between the tackles most of the time.

He doesn't have to run into the backs of his own offensive linemen, however. There were gaps where he didn't cut, but instead ran right up into the backs of his own offensive linemen. At least in the first quarter.

Guys, looking at Forte today made me wonder if he could actually do the cuts he normally does. I don't think his injury is healed. Something is definitely wrong. Both of the backs today looked as if they couldn't really see the holes and get to them, but it was more noticeable with Forte today. I'll say it's likely his ankle isn't quite right yet.

The only thing that bothers me is that he looks like he can't make anything happen by himself. Yes you need blocking to open holes. That's the whole point of a line to do everything they can do for the runing back to go through freely. But of course that doesn't always happen cause the opponent gets paid to stop that. But those real good backs sometimes make something out of nothing. I don't seeit with him. Plus he doesn't juke anyone or breaks tackles like before even against just one guy in front of him. He's not going to break or juke everyone on every play but you would figure at least a couple times. Hell bush has in his limited carries. Not all of them but on at least 2 carries and he has fewer carries.
The video the guy posted on Forte running between the tackles, look how many of those he went through untouched. Not even an arm touched him. The ones he did actually do something, where is that. I do say our line sucks, but ever since he's been here, every one has said he has produced all these years with a shitty oline since he's been here. Well, why not this year. Same shitty oline like before. I want the old Forte back. The one that did a Lil something every once in awhile on his own.

The guy has been producing over a hundred yards a game behind the same crap OL through his career. He's had a few weeks here where he hasn't been as productive and people are hating all over the place. Just like they were hating during his contract negotiations.

I guess maybe there's just something about the guy that makes a lot of people dislike him, because of the 15 or so guys who get substantial playing time on that grossly under-performing offense, his leash seems to always be the shortest with fans.

Odd.

Do you know the difference between pointing out the obvious and hating, get a fucking clue already. You're a complete clueless idiot. I've been a Forte fan since his rookie yea, even have his jersey. But I guess people can't out when someone is underperforming.

Incorrect, stats dont tell the whole story and can be twisted. Im using my eyes and Forte isnt the type of back to take over a game

Well i should have known this is how the conversation was going to go when you threw Doug Martin in the mix lol let's just agree to disagree...

Watching Lynch and Peterson today makes me realize how much of bad runner Forte is between tackles. Lunch is cutting back every play and looks awesome. Forte just runs straight like a dope. God dam
It!

"I'VE BEEN A FORTE FAN BUT HE STINKS IN BETWEEN TACKLES"
The title reads as though you are saying "I like Matt Forte very much, But he exudes a terrible odor at all times during the game except for when he is being tackled"

additionally..... WTF? " Lunch is cutting back every play" .... I don't know what you are eating, but my lunch stayed right where it was.

Or is it that you are a russian comedian? (typed in russian accent)"In america, people cut back on lunch to lose weight...... In Soviet Russia, Lunch cuts back on YOU"

If he does, It will be recieving.
He has never had a 100 yard rushing day against the packers or the vikings.

Plus, he has only had 1 single rushing td against the vikings in 8 career games.

Seems I touched a nerve.

Kinda annoying to be judged as a hater when you criticize a player, isn't it?

Forte isn't the type of rb to take over games like AP, Lynch, Cj2k,,Mjd or even doug martin now but he is versatile

Don't forget about Arian Foster

The beast Arian Foster is getting 3.9 yards per carry behind one of the better lines in the NFL.

Forte is getting 4.2 yards per carry behind one of the worst (in a down year).

Mick, how do you feel Forte's performed this season, compared to your expectations?
