2 hits. The other one shook him up more.

Point is, do you really want your franchise’s future to take a bunch of unnecessary hits just to have something to cheer for early this year as a fan? It only takes one hit…
I hear you. But if that’s the same line that’s protecting Andy, then it will only take one hit for him. Then we will see Fields and then see Foles and then Cohen at QB….

All the more reason to be patient with him. He isn’t 100% ready yet.
And like more than one poster has pointed out, he learned from that hit in game, when the Bills run that same blitz I believe twice more and Fields makes the correct read.

You can only learn from these kind of mistakes on the field under game conditions, not from the bench.

I agree. But there are things you can learn from the sidelines as well. And may be better to learn them there before the bullets start flying.

Dont overthink these preseason games Justin fields is good enough to start. Hes out there with the 2s and 3s I want to see what he looks like when hes throwing to Allen Robinson. Get him used to defenses like the rams and start that learning curve now. Hes not mitch I think hes mentally tough enough to handle whatevers thrown at him
Agree 100%. How can we tell what he really is when he's passing to depth and scrubs. You know who looked good? Adams and James. Guys that can actually play. If he was looking for ARob and Mooney, and Goodwin streaking, as well as Monty? Damn, I think he does a LOT better.

Saw this on twitter couldnt agree more "Everyone else besides Nagy can see Fields needs to at least be getting first team reps. He doesn't face the first team D in practice, he doesn't work with the first team O line, he doesn't throw to the first team WRs and TEs. It makes no sense."

I was all aboard the start fields train and still sorta am.. RT is a mess. Based off talent and best chance to win, start him. Avoid injury in his first year, wait until RT specifically gets sorted out.

edit: he seems to feel pressure off the left tackle better than right

I agree. Just throw him out there. I feel like he will figure it out in about 5 games. That’s how long it took deshaun Watson to tear up the league.

I’d like to see Fields get the start next week with the 1s to see how he looks. Playing with and against street level players I don’t think does anything for him. Dalton doesn’t need to play again in the preseason to be ready to start week 1. He will be the same regardless.
Don't expect to see the #1 offense take too many snaps next week. It is pre-2021 week 4 preseason. Time to give the start to the 2nd stringers, 2nd quarter to the 3rd stringers and the 2nd half to the 4th stringers.

Fucking THIS!!! Every single QB in the NFL is going to take several hits during the season. People need to stop acting like he can't get hit at all.

Herbert had a legendary bad o-line last year.
He isn't as athletic as fields.
He survived and thrived.

Yes- Carr was destroyed and ruined by a bad o-line...on an expansion team with a line that never played together.

95% of rookie qbs don't suffer that fate. Fields won't either.

Dalton ain't gonna raise this team to playoff contenders, so put fields out there and let's see what he can do.

That what we did yesterday.

I agree, and actually Watson took off from his second start on. Plus like Fields he had to play behind a horrible OL.

Lol. Watson had one of the best jump ball WRs in the history of the game. That helped a little…

what’s the harm in using our lame duck QB as a gage week 1 against the best defense in football?

if the line holds up move to fields

if it doesn’t re evaluate in a few weeks

nobody is asking to hold him out all year just don’t be fucking reckless

If Dalton plays a decent game in that scenario, you can't really bench him. Then fields loses time.

Dalton is pretty solid for the most part...solidly mundane.
Except for the playoffs, he isn't prone to meltdowns.

Putting Dalton in gives him the job until he implodes, and with a high draft pick sitting there with pretty much a guaranteed starting stint in the future, I am wholly uninterested in waiting through a vanilla Dalton stretch before I see it.

Oh yeah it did..........but on the flip side we do have Robinson one of the best in the game and Mooney with those moves and speed.
AR has no speed, and had 2-3 balls tipped from his hands just last year. I like him, and Mooney, but neither are in Hopkins league.

So don’t play Dalton because he might play good and the Bears might win???

ok….

It makes sense if he isn't the starting qb

dalton can’t even put up a first down in pre season

the #1 D is going to pull his pants down and then point and laugh at him let’s be realistic

Nagy's offense sux. Both Fields and Dalton play well within the shackles of the offense...but Fields can run - that has been the difference.

He can play outside of Nagy's crappy system and make things happen.

No reason to hate on Dalton.
