So don’t play Dalton because he might play good and the Bears might win???

ok….

If it were 2007-2012, a vet bridge might be a shot at a championship.

Dalton won't do shit to get this team in to the playoffs.
2 years from now, Dalton will be gone. He isn't pulling a Payton manning here.

You invest in a first round pick, you believe in them- or you wouldn't have taken him.

Let him on the field and get him experience.

A good qb should set the team up for 10 to 15 years. Get him some milage so he is ready when the team is built around him.

Fields sitting behind Dalton isn't Favre and Rodgers or Brees and rivers.
It isnt even Smith and Mahomes.

It is much closer to Taylor- Herbert.

Lets figure it out now and quit wasting time.

dalton can’t even put up a first down in pre season

the #1 D is going to pull his pants down and then point and laugh at him let’s be realistic
Then to put Dalton in in your mind would be conceding the game and calling it 0-1 so you can protect a guy?

what’s the harm in using our lame duck QB as a gage week 1 against the best defense in football?

if the line holds up move to fields

if it doesn’t re evaluate in a few weeks

nobody is asking to hold him out all year just don’t be fucking reckless
1) Rams were the #1 D last year, but are they still going to be there this year after losing four starters, a rush specialist, AND their DC? That's a lot to ask even with Donald and Ramsey on the field.

2) Granted right now OL is a question mark, and I don't think in the end it will be any worse than last year. Even as bad as it was it was not the worst line in the league, and Fields will probably make it look better than having a statue at QB or one who will panic under pressure like last year.

3) A few weeks would waste his on the field development.

4) I think it would be more fucking reckless to start Dalton for a few weeks and lose the rest of the team by not starting your best option at quarterback.

Jim Miller pointed out that it actually was on fields because the protection was set up so that you as the quarterback should be aware that there will be a guy coming free, but the offshoot is that you're supposed to be able to get rid of the ball quick and have an extra man pressing down field.

It was a mental mistake by fields, but the rookie is going to have those things

Same shit is on his OSU tape. Is anyone surprised he got blown up?

My favorite teams
  1. New York Mets
  1. Detroit Pistons
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. North Carolina Tar Heels
When the season starts will he though? We have yet to see three of the projected starters line up, Daniels, Ifedi, and Peters. Last years line was not very good and they gave up 36 sacks with four of those five starting games for the Bears with one QB who was a statue and the other who panics in the pocket at the first sight of pressure. Those numbers go down with Fields who this pre-season has shown both poise in the pocket and mobility.

What's that old saying the backup quarterback is only one hit away from starting. Dak is the perfect example from last year. It's football you can't play this game afraid a starter will go down.
So many people don't get this!!!

And still people are expecting the 1st stringers to start week 3 preseason?
I would. It'll be over 2 weeks after that game until the first game. All three phases looked like shit against the Bills...what did they do good that screams 'bench the starters?'

Saw this on twitter couldnt agree more "Everyone else besides Nagy can see Fields needs to at least be getting first team reps. He doesn't face the first team D in practice, he doesn't work with the first team O line, he doesn't throw to the first team WRs and TEs. It makes no sense."

3 months ago we were debating this every topic around here as far too many people were okay with Dalton still being named starter because they didn't understand that backup QBs do not get many first team reps if any at all.

Fields needs those reps and the offense needs him to get those reps to get better.

Absolutely.

You draft a first round QB, He is absolutely, positively going to get the chance to start at some point.
There were 60 qbs drafted in the first round between 2000 and 2020- there was only one single guy who hasnt started a game, and that was love behind Rodgers last year.

Fields WILL get his shot, Dalton wont do shit for this team this year, so fuck it. Lets see Fields play year one.
