Power struggle

I can't help reading his stuff despite rarely agreeing with his point of view. He's rarey correct. But if the source he sites from the 300 lvl is the O-board/300 level poster/occassional poster here that I think it is, then he's always been a pretty reliable source of hockey related info IMO for the last 7 years or so I've been on this and other Blackhawk boards.

I hope Rocky can see through the BS and make the correct decisions and get this shit under control.

Rocky Wirtz and John McDonough had sent down an edict prohibiting Bowman from adding significant salary this year or past July 1.

You see, I don't believe Bowman has as much autonomy as his peers in the GM world. In fact, I believe that is the critical factor that caused McDonough to essentially fire Dale Tallon. McDonough, in my opinion, does not want a strong, independent GM, but rather a cautious, more corporate GM. And that dynamic—not Bowman being some kind of bozo— is the real problem here.

While I am hopeful those issues are not the case I could certainly see that from the way McDonough postures himself and the way he surrounds himself. There was no doubt that is why McD and DT did not get along. McD could not put the lasso around his neck. What is funny is when he describes a "cautious" GM I think of Stan and his deer in the headlights look at times.

Here's to 47 more years of no Cups!

But seriously, how can management be this unprofessional. Too many egos trying to jockey for a leader position? Has Rocky had enough of paying salaries to players not on the roster. He'll get Huet off the books after this season but still has Olesz and his rising salary to pay for the next 2 years. Doesn't he have faith that Bowman will be able to sign players that he won't need to bury in the minors due to overpaying and misevaluating. Is McD meddling in the hockey affairs? Has the rest of the GMs in the league soured on Bowman and the organization the way they backstabbed Tallon and ousted him, further making the job even harder for Scooter.

Goddamn this Mickey Mouse organization with all their juvenile power struggles and dumb infighting. **** them all.

ASlso from the article:

"And I actually think getting a 5th round pick for John Scott is a bit of a steal. Let's all bear in mind, Andrew Shaw was a 5th round pick this past summer."

...and Kyle Beach was a 1st round pick. So?

Anyway you slice it, getting a 5th for Scott is a small steal. Odds of that turning into anything of value is still very small.

Rocky needs to settle this pecking order dispute so they can get it together on the ice.

If you thought that Stan was remotely close to an autonomous GM, then you're a fucking idiot. Should be no surprise unless you are terminally stupid.

This is a perfect example of shit rolling downhill management style. Under McDouchesilos watch, all of the front-end loaded contracts were signed as well as the burying of the Huet and Olesz contracts. So Rocky watches his team the past 30 days and has to ask WTF am I paying this coin for? Can you say Soriano?

And all the while, his former GM is making a push for the playoffs on a shoe string budget. I'd be pissed and I'd have a conversation with my President.

I don't you need to point the finger at those of us that post here. You know and I know that we are smarter then that. We are just discussing it.

What we can hope is that the general public including the bandwagoners learn what is going on. Voice of dissent from the masses will get Rocky's attention especially when the team is not producing.

Could not have said it better. IMO, its Rockys wallet that will hurt the most if some of these allegations mentioned are true, if so in the end the good always prevails.

Appears that the current team is paying for McDs past sins (Ks offered to Blackhawks past Huet & Campbell).

So what your saying is I should link to the 300 level version of it, or it didn't deserve a thread for discussion?

The way it's worded, he makes it sound like the entire organization is in shambles and everyone hates each other. I really doubt that is the case, it's just the frustration of losing that is seeping in.

There are big issues in the organization Ton. This is not the first I've heard of this, and it's only been hinted at by the person I know, but they are there. A lot of people are quite angry in the organization.

Any team that loses has issues, any team that loses also gets backlash from the media/fanbase. If they were winning, no one would say anything. Let me get this straight, according to that article:

Players hate Q

Q hates Bowman

Scouts hate management

Bowman hates McD

Blow it all up! The team is in an apocalyptic state! Get out while you can! Why the **** are all these people working for something they hate? Next they're going to talk about how Toews and Kane hate each other, and how badly Seabrook wants to leave for Vancouver.

Sure, there are some problems in the organization, but holy crap are things getting blown out of proportion or what? Also, are some of these things really such a big surprise? Like Rocky placing a cap on Bowmans spending?

What's the real issue here besides losing?

The biggest issue right now is Q's ego has become so large (Ditka like) that he won't listen to anyone. And I mean anyone.

Take it for what it's worth.

Yep.

Perhaps the Scott trade was more of a **** you to Q than anything... Going to continue to misuse him? Fine, we'll trade him away so you can't.
