The crappy roster has to do with Stan as well.....

Stan could have done a few things differently in the offseason.

1) Just quality Frolik with the minimum raise, and let him EARN his next contract. Would have made dumping him WAY more feasible.

2) Not bring in Brunette. It was obvious to pretty much everyone that he didn't fit the Hawks' style at all. Should have retired.

3) Not bring in OD. Again, a guy that should have retired, who brings absolutely nothing to the team.

Same mistakes were made last season.... Pisani? Cullimore? He repeated those mistakes in Brunette and OD. I'm done giving Stan a pass. His drafts are still up for grades, but his FA acquisitions and trades have pretty much sucked.

So in your opinion, bringing in a #6-7 defenseman and 3rd/4th line PP specialist has ruined this team?

No, but they were definitely mistakes. Brunette was brought in to play in the top six. He started out with Toews in case you forget. He played quite a bit in the top six. He worked his way down to the third line, and now on the fourth line, where he does not belong. He's not a fourth line player. Brunette has hurt this team.

The point isn't that they ruined the team. The point is they do not improve this team, and actually hurt the team. Players are not slotted properly on this team, and that is as much on Stan as it is on Q.

The Hawks had cap space. There was no reason for Brunette to be brought in as a top six player. I would have rather seen Beach start out the season on that top line.

They had space, but they were never intending on spending to the limit.

Top six players aren't signing for $2M for one year these days. Stan was not prepared to give out another long-term contract with all the youth in the system. It was never going to happen. Bruno didn't work out in the top six, but there were hardly any other options available for the price and term. Stan gambled and it didn't work out, it happens. Good thing it was just a one-year band-aid that really doesn't matter and not a $5M cap hit 6 year contract.

Meh, I didn't like picking up Morrison either, that was probably the dumbest move made.

Other than that, I just can't see what Stan could have done differently in the off-season without handing out longer terms/more money. It is what it is.

As far as Q, he has a crappy roster at the moment. Not because of Stan, but because of irreplaceable injuries.

What was his excuse when Toews was healthy?

Or last season when the Hawks were in the same position?

Last season the Hawks had no Cap space, which IMO sparked a mini rebuilding process. Why is this so hard to understand?

Let's face it, Q has been handed 3 great rosters in his career (St.L, Col, and Chi) and did good things with them (not great). His Avs should have won a cup or two. The blues were DAMN good back then and coulda snagged a cup. We should not sneaked in the playoffs last year but finished 4th again, this year hell we might not make the playoffs and should be 4-6 range (6th still possible but doubtful). So what does Q offer as a coach. He takes great rosters and makes them underperform at "good". Sure he's the fastest to 600 but hell look at the teams he's had. Q couldn't hold Trotz's jock when it comes to coaching. Trotz gets handed a pile of shit and is told to make the playoffs and he delivers. This year he has the tools to go deep, let's see what he does with them. Q gets handed gold and is told don't **** it up and he fucks it up.

Either way, it's clear that the Hawks are not "all in" this year. Whatever happens from this point out, happens.

If they do this again next season, I will be concerned. But at this point I have to believe it's part of the plan especially considering they did not spend to the Cap.

I told you guys last year there were to many egos on the hawks org and at some point shit was going to hit the fan. You all laughed. Well **** you all. I believe fully that this team set itself up for this the day mcdonut walked in then the bowman followed. No head coach stood a chance against these guys.

Havi isn't getting the headcoaching job either when it comes up. He will be as good as gone also. It will be an entire restructuring of the bench. That's what corporate folks do they live and die by the ideas of restructuring. We will get ourselves a nicebullshit swallowing coach and toews will ask to be traded in 2 years.

If that happens **** it I'm a panthers fan. Toews seems to be the type that will just endure the BS and try his best so when he breaks you know all is lost.

I did a research last year about qs teams in the playoffs and i think the stats showed that 80percent of his playoff loses were to teams that went on to win the cup. Not sure if that means anything in the long run but it was interesting none the less. Or not i am easily amused.

Thanks for sharing, that would be an interesting stat. Any idea of where you saw that?

i think he is the type who would ignore bs also but at the same time he seems like the type that is so focused on the on ice game that if the distraction got bigger and started effecting the on ice game and his chances of winning that he would make a stance.

This headoffice coaching crap needs to be delt with asap. Its so childish and distracting you can certainly feel it on the ice. Either fire q or everyone goes on Murray to air their grievances and so we can hear q say "screw that i do what i want".

Im really tired of it as a fan. I don't even really get emotional about a loss anymore right now. Teams starting to lose me too..i can just imagine how the players feel. And its losing me because of all this inner office corporate boring shit. Nothing turns a fan off more than that.

I imagine you'd have to go back through the playoffs and see where his team was eliminated and to who.

I don't hate Lepisto or O'Donnell as much as some, I don't think they have been far sub par of my expectation for 5-6-7 D-men.

Carcillo, Brunette, Frolik...I could do without, but they are short term and low cap hit. So I feel kind of "Meh" on that. I am a fan of letting young players have some time in the AHL to get a few things worked out.

My main problem with our team is that, starting with the banner-raising night our team stopped being coached to understand the value of posessing the puck. We want to move ahead at all cost...our guys switched on the puck posession for 5-6 games and we had a nice little run...then right back to crap. We keep making the wrong decision with the puck...over and over and over...

That is coaching. Players need to be allowed to play together to understand each other. They need to be left on a line longer than one period.

I do not think our replacement coach is sitting our on the sidelines right now, so why fire Q now unless he is a cancer. None of us really know who hates who or what's true. People in the workplace disagree all the time without neccessarily disrespecting each other.

I think our next coach is coaching the Houston Aeros now...just hope his parent club does not beat us to the chance to promote him.

I can only imagine how the fans from the Wirtz era feel. My brother gave up on the hawks due to front office, came back when the front office changed. I know I won't stick around for the front office fuckathon. Call me fair weather, it is just dumb bullshit that kills fan morale.

That would be nice, but I don't think he'll come back to this circus...
