Goes from the Cup finals to not making the playoffs in ANA

Then, his first year in DET...has the top record in the NHL and loses in the first round

Were they old that year too?

no. They had Manny Legace in net.

and the rest of the roster? Datsyuk, Zetteberg, Yzerman, Holmstrom, Chelios, Lidstrom, Lang, Schnieder, Samuelsson, Williams, Draper, Franzen, Cleary...

And Legace was their goalie all year with a .915 save percentage and 7 shutouts...compared to Roloson's .908% with 2 so

and Legace flopped every year in the post season. Yzerman was also playing on one leg, Chelios was in his 40's, as was Schneider.

Schnieder had 20g - 60pts from the blueline and +33...Chelios was +22....Lidstrom won the Norris with 80pts

Lilja, Kronwall, Cross rounded out the D

Yzerman was a 3rd liner (with 34pts in 60gms)

I think it's safe to say that team was more stacked than anyone Quenville has ever had

the team was stacked, though problem with the age factor is burnout. Also, if that's the year I'm thinking of, is that not when they lost to Edmonton in 7 games? Edmonton was a pretty good team then too, and had hot goaltending to boot.

Not sure if this was the year or not, but Detroit lost to Edmonton one year and hardly scored ANY goals and everyone here (I live in Michigan) was blaming Legace. They were losing 2-1, 1-0 type games. Yeah, blame the goalie...of course I might be biased there, being a goalie. Grin.

Or maybe just wrong. Roloson outplayed him in every single game except one. And the Wings were shelling him just about every game as well. 57 shots allowed compared to 25. 34 to 23. 47 to 32, 32 to 19. Some pretty drastic differentials and Roloson was playing above and beyond it. Meanwhile Legace was below average in that series, even for that season being the one after the lockout where goalie numbers were down across the board because of the changes.

I have had my tiks for 6 years. I know certainly many here have had their's for a much longer time and through much worse seasons.

But I lean with RK too. Every year prior, when that bill came, it always sucks, but i never questioned paying. This is the first year for me since having the tiks that I questioned not only ditching the playoffs but ditiching the seats altogether. For the cost i could buy a HUGE ass tv with 2 others to run gamecenter and pay out the nose for playoffs each year.

And if there was little talent on the squad, I wouldnt question paying, if everyone was on the same page and gave it their all each night, I couldnt care less.

The office doesnt care, they just up prices. Players dont care, they look like they should be playing with Barbie's, not pucks. Coaches dont care, one who shuffles better than a Vegas dealer, another who will run the same plays over and over and over and...

I am a firm believer that as a fan, you cant just be there for the sexy times. But there is just too much talent to just accept a bad season.

Bingo. On paper this team contenders for a cup. Our D wasn't as bad as everyone said, it was the system they were stuck playing in. The Powerplay doesn't lack for talent, just the system they use is terribly ineffective. The PK system is too passive.

The systems the team is currently using are just bad. The constant line juggling kills the chemistry and yes pros or not chemistry matters. You have a second or less to make a decision and when you expect someone somewhere and they aren't there you are put into a really shitty predicament.

As for explaining the cup run. I'll be blunt it looked like different systems. offensively, defensively, PP, PK all looked different and better. Also that team was so fucking loaded that you could have told them to skate around and do whatever and it would have worked.
