Maybe it's my own fandom in the way here, but I think Kane did an ok job a center. With the line changes that's Q likes to tinker with, he did not have the feel that he should have. Iam willing to give him a full year at center.

im willing to give him the summer to get used to the role, but if it turns out to be a mistake, the hawks will be in the same position they were this year.

Id much rather just trade for a center, but it doesnt look like they are very cheap

D-Man for sure. You could fix a lot of the Hawks problems by signing one really good defenseman. Not all, but a lot.

Even without that 2C, this team still scored a ton of goals last year.

Dman definitely...defense and goaltending both upgrade with a defenseman

yea i agree with this. Our offense wasn't the problem, it was the defense and goaltending...both of which upgrade with a defenseman

Top dman with a up and down goalie..let Crawford get that confidence back.

-Crawford potentially gets an easier go of things
-More defensive depth

And probably the biggest positive- a lighter load on Keith. The first two are clear benefits, but if bringing in another top pairing guy can get Keith to cut down on the errors and return to his previous form (back when they had 2 legitimately strong pairings)... that would be the biggest gain this team would see.

Pp was a giant problem your 100% correct.

They were able to hang 5 on 5 but the depth was a huge issue on the PP. The 2nd unit should have never included brunette and Krueger. That was very very weak. If they were to have obtained an offensive player at the deadline he would have replaced bruno or krueger which would have been all together a much better PP.

Hawks have no center depth. They weren't taking Kruger out.

Kid is a defensive wizard with his offensive game still developing.

if you can call Kruger a defensive wizrd right now, then stalberg is a sniper

both are still developing their games.

I do think Kruger will BECOME a defensive wizard

he is pretty good in the defensive zone. offense sucks, but is pretty descent defensivley. to bring stalberg in to the mix is just stupid and you know thats joes hot button. so predictable its too easy.

That's why I'm big on signing a real good defenseman. I think getting a D-man who's responsible in his own zone but also good enough to run the point on the PP would be HUGE for the Blackhawks.

Before the 0-for-50ish slump that the Hawks went through on the power play, it was actually the 2nd unit that was semi-decent for awhile. Believe it consisted of Kruger, Leddy, Brunnette, Montador (screening goalies in front, actually) and ... can't remember the 5th guy. But they were good for awhile. Don't remember any such stretch for the Toews/Kane/Sharp PP unit.

Bolland?

And Montador had that little stretch where he was potting goals on the PP. That was enjoyable. I think he even had had a 2 goal night.
