Positional value is really, really important in the draft. You are probably 10x as likely to get a serviceable RB in the 6th or 7th round as you are to get a serviceable EDGE in the 6th or 7th round. You are also way more likely to get a good/great EDGE, OT, CB, QB in the first two rounds than anywhere else in the draft. Most good drafting teams pick guys who are liked by the consensus (more data points is better, that is pretty much the basic of predictive analytics afaik), but they also take premium positions in the first round most of the time.
I think Monangai has a much better chance at making the 53 because he's a RB. I always say that RB and off ball LBer are two of the easiest position to find in free agency or the draft.

Homer has 4.48 speed. Too bad there's no use for him on offense.
I don't agree with this and think his ridiculous injury history is the only thing that keeps him from getting any real chances at playing RB for a team. This guy has talent and is a really good receiver as well. I think if he could just stay healthy and got a real chance from a team that he could be a legit 3rd down RB.

Well to be fair I believe Pacheco went to Rutgers and was drafted as a 7th rounder so he will be the starting RB when the Bears play in the SB in February!!!

It's because of his size and weight.

its because of the contact balance.

He's closer to monty than jeanty tho.

What makes jeanty special is that he can break a tackle and zoom. He's got special acceleration/quickness for his size.

He's nowhere near as good as Jeanty, just has a similar style. Monty too. These are all guys who make their money bouncing and sliding off tacklers. Jeanty is far more athletic and better vision though. From what I've seen Monty is much better in the pass game than Monangai, as well as being stronger and just as fast/quick.

Trying to associate what has happened in the past with 7th rounders as "proof" to dismiss a completely different player and situation is silly.

Monaghan has a much better chance of making this team than a has been like Jamaal Williams or a guy trying to return from back to back knee surgeries.

Leave it to CCS royalty to continue to proclaim that their genius opinions are "common sense" when in reality it's just more short sighted think-speak from the hive.

7th rounders not making a team isn’t “common sense”, it’s math. It’s facts. Most don’t. Some do.

No one is dismissing his chances. Just saying pencil him in for now. Don’t put it in ink

I saw this highlight and thought, "Can we really not get anything from Homer offensively?"

It does not matter where he was drafted if he perfectly fits a role that was needed in the offense. He is a hard-nosed power runner that complements Swift who is more the receiving and speed rusher. Why would they replace a young version of what they need for an older or broken down version of what they are looking for?

I could maybe see JK Dobbins being an option but why pay him what he wants when they already are paying Swift? Of course anything is possible so we shall see.
