heres JJs take so far

Let's get down to it, shall we?

First, the Big Enchilada, Iginla.

The Hawks are resting on their offer of a roster player and a prospect or a top prospect and a decent prospect or a pick—but not a first rounder.

The Hawks believe Jay Feaster has no better offers than what they've put on the table, and based on what I know of their offer, and those of other teams, I would agree. Feaster is said to want a roster player, a top prospect and a pick. But Iginla is 35 years old and clearly, while still a good player, no longer an elite one. One other tidbit, Feaster is said to have asked for Malcom Subban from the Bruins—and the B's said no dice.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR:

Apparently, if this deal gets done, it will be for a pick as opposed to the second, lesser prospect. The Hawks, having dealt their 2nd and 3rd round 2013 picks to the Jets for Johnny Oduya at this time last year, would send a player to the Eastern Conference for said pick. If you hear such a deal announced in the next 24 hours—it is a good sign on Iginla coming to Chicago.

The Islanders.

I am told this deal is dead. Could it be because the Hawks are closer on Iginla than they are letting on? Maybe. The main asset I heard the Hawks offered to the Isle was also offered to Calgary.

Rumbling In Da Big D

A rumor out of Canada this morning has the Hawks in conversation with the Stars. Players unknown.

Tampa.

The same Canada source has the Hawks talking to the Bolts about defensive forward Tom Pyatt. Excited yet?

I will also add—and this is not editorializing—I have heard it from a source—the recent activities have added to a long-standing perception around the league that GM Stan Bowman lacks the organizational latitude to make decisions and act appropriately. The source's words: "is he actually steering the ship?"

More as I have it,

I can actually see this deal happening more and more. It makes a lot of sense and fills a void.

Imagine hossa and sharp coming back and adding Iginla. Sure he is 35 but look at teemu and jagr.

If Iginla is surrounded by the extreme talent of the hawks and doesnt have to be the leader and just a player, you may see him flourish. just my take.

Who the hell is this JJ?

How much shit can this guy slap on the wall hoping something sticks?

Only thing Im buying is that Bowman doesnt work alone....but I cant believe that's much of
surprise to anyone.

Where's he gonna play, Dews? He's a RW. You bumping Hossa? Kane? You break up that 3rd line, thats been pretty damn good? I dont see how he fits.

if iginla was obtained the 2nd line has all 3 players...sharp,kane, and iginla who have all taken the dot and have some experience. the only guy I wouldnt mess with is kane. Id leave him in his position as he is playing lights out. I would prefer for sharp to take the draws at 2c, than bolland back down to 3c.

I'm with diehardfan. I just don't see where Iginla fits on this team, with Hossa and Kane already occupying the top two RW spots.

If this was 2008 Iginla, I'd be all over it. But it's 2013.

again, its about a player being surrounded with superior talent now. he is still a very skilled player that adds a little more toughness to a coast to coast soft, finesse offense. if the deal isnt insane you do it, you do it for many reasons...1) being depth from injury 2) vet player who is still skilled. no one knows when sharp will be back, he can fill in nicely and keep the hawks a top the west. than when sharp comes back you can worry about slotting him than.

At some point, though, acquiring mountains of talent becomes a diminishing return. Unless you're going to bring Iginla to play the 2C (which would be an interesting proposition), then I don't think he's the guy you want.

I think he goes with sutter in LA

Now that makes sense. The Kings have over 9 mil in cap space....they could acquire him and resign him. Its
tough to give away talent for a player that's only giving you a few months. Now if some C is around that can
handle the puck and is good on faceoffs....thats what you invest in.

I'm just happy the 'Hawks are attempting to add -- it's a good year for them to go all in.

Our 3rd has been in a rut for a wee bit now. He'll also add to the pp.

Agree with you here regarding diminishing returns. JI is no center, though.

i get that. but no matter what you say about his age he is still pretty good. now insert him in the kings lineup...would you want to face them in a round? i know i wouldnt.
