Jarome Iginla Talks UPDATED

Feaster told Boston they'll make the deal official tomorrow, then flips him to the Pens? Good for the Pens.

well we do need a 2c. roy is bad at it, ott isnt really a faceoff guy.at this point im disappointed. like i said earlier, if it was the kings we would have a hard time with them. im not blaming bowman for not getting him as much as im concerned he will once again wet the bed at the deadline.

Ott is a faceoff guy and one of the best in the league. For qualified players he ranks 8th this year at 56.9% (he has taken the 2nd most faceoffs on his team). Years before that he has pretty much always been in the top 15 for qualified players and usually around 56%. His faceoffs are a big reason why I think he would look great at 2c between Sharp/Kane.

Still time to grab a C. Just don't know how many are out there.

Off the top of my head the possibilities include (teams that are not in the playoffs or the race right now)

Ott, Ribeiro, Roy, Stastny, Gagner, and Vermette in no particular order.

Alright. It shouldn't make a difference if he is taking faceoffs as a 1c, 2c, etc. The guy is a stud at the faceoff dot. Don't know who the analysts were, but they are completely off...not even really a matter of debate/opinion as the analysts were just way off.

An Ott moment that I remember the best was during HBO 24/7 when Giroux was trash talking Ott at the faceoff dot. Ott responded and said something like, "check the fucking stats at nhl.com I'm number one in faceoffs this year". Giroux then won the faceoff and the Flyers scored seconds later.

Iginla pretty much controlled this process. From everything I have seen, there were teams with better offers than the Pens but Iginla wanted to go and play with Crosby, who he played with in the Olympics on a line.

You mean a GM that's not afraid to go all-in? I mean that's exactly what he did. He now a has a group of big salary All-stars and a cap that's about to shrink. Does that sound a bit familar? He now has 16 mil tied up in Neal, Kunitz and Crosby.....7mil in two goalies.....Malkin and Iginla both becoming UFA next year....the cap to drop probably 3-5 mil and he's traded off a 1st, two seconds and a few of his kids. Now I dont know a thing about the kids he traded but Im sure Calgary and Dallas does...its probably a good bet that they dont suck.

He better win it all because it might be awhile before he will again.

Cap goes down even more than that. 70.2 Mill to 64.3 Mill, that is 5.9 Mil.

Did you mean Morrow and Iginla? Malkin is under contract til 2014.

Capgeek

According to Capgeek, the Penguins still have $11.5 million in cap space next year without losing any of their big names. Dupuis is in the Top 6 but I wouldn't call him one of their big names.

Ray Shero is the best in the business.

You're right, I was looking at the wrong column with Malkin. That's still about 36 mil tied up in 4 skaters and a goalie. That leaves about 28 mil for the other 15 or so guys they'll have under contract. 21 mil or so if they resign Iginla. Good luck keeping everyone happy!!!

Oh...BTW, I also predict that they wont make the finals. Someone will out defend them in a series and they'll be swinging golf clubs instead of hockey sticks.
