Of course no one truly knows if this report is true, but it is more in line with what I believe to be the fair market for Wentz. Whoever takes him on is paying him 20-25 a year coming off an abysmal season. Yes, you could cut him next year with no penalty, but he us still getting 25 mil this year.

Because of the cost, it's already a high risk trade. Adding a 1st on top is asking alot. I said previously I think a fair value for us is a 2nd + 4th.

I agree 100% vabearsfan. if you read between the lines with what is going on, Jaworski's report DOES SEEM to be the most accurate and the most logical explanation for why the Eagles haven't dealt Wentz yet, in spite of reports 2 weeks ago that a "deal was imminent." Quite simply, there wasn't the market for Wentz that the Eagles and Roseman were envisioning. Jaworski's report also jives with what Shefter said about Roseman being angry that he wasn't receiving the "kind of offer he expected" after the Goff/Stafford deal went down. Obvious translation- NOBODY was offering a first round pick for Wentz.

The Colts also have the second most cap space in the NFL right now. The Bears are in cap hell. Taking on Wentz's contract in and of itself would take some cap manipulation, and then how do you address AR? You can argue how good or how bad the Bears O-line was last year, but the one thing that you can't argue is Massie and Leno will be another year older, Miller needs to go, and K-met and Mooney being bigger contributors is still an unknown.

Now, if the Bears had the cap space the Colts did, you could make an argument for making such a trade that required "X" amount of draft capital to pull off, plug in some quality FA's and make your run.
I think Bears can handle the Wentz cap. Im very luke warm on a trade for Wentz, but I dont think anyone has a good solution. Clearly Trubisky played better than Wentz last year, but Bears org and fans are sick of Mitch. Seems any QB brought in trade or draft will be with little reason for optimism.

Maybe DeFilippo doesn't have the influence in the front office given his recent arrival, but it must be telling that the Bears supposedly aren't offering much for a "known commodity to DeFilippo" in Wentz? If there is enough buy in from the front office that Wentz is the guy, I expect they will up the offer to win it but I'm not sure anyone in the front office or coaching rooms is willing to put their "do or die" career seasons on his shoulders.
Right, I don't think anyone in their right mind would want to stake their career on Wentz. But they're going to have to make a choice. DeFilippo knows Wentz, as does Foles (not that he's in the room), so at least the Bears have some insider knowledge on if and how much of a risk to make on Wentz.

Just offer whatever the Colts do. 1 pick higher in the draft makes a Bear offer better.
Nope its bs by Jaworski....if they got that offer why not take it....mfer is trying to make Bears or others offer a number 1
