Add up the Reinsdorf paraphased quote math here...

1) I will pay the luxury tax to win a title

Where the hell did he draw this conclusion from?

LOL at this Thonus clown and his writing.

Reinsdorf once said during this season that he thought the Bulls were better than the Heat, did he not?

I don't think he knows basketball as well as he knows baseball.

Reisndorf has said he will pay the tax for a winner.

This quote is from a KC Johnson post during the FA period last summer:

"here's what Reinsdorf said on that topic in a conversation with Bulls beat writers last July 20: "I wouldn't mind paying the tax if it's an intelligent expenditure. When you pay the tax, you have to do it for a player that's worth it."

Reinsdorf has always said he would pay the luxury tax if the team was a title contender,w hich we now are. However I feel the NBA will do away with the whole luxury tax thing now as it installs a hard salary cap, so Reinsdorf will never have to worry about that.

I think after game 1 a couple people thought we were too. But clearly they were fools.

Well, before the series I predicted Bulls would win in 7. So I thought they would be better, at that point.

But then Udonis Haslem and Mike Miller surprisingly showed up. And that gave the Heat just enough depth to get by the Bulls with relative ease.

I don't know if the Bulls are willing to spend...Derrick Rose's new contract would most likely put any acquisition deep into the luxuy tax--if it is still there after the CBA. If the Bulls can extend Rose and still feel like spending into luxury tax territory, then by all means, make a deal... also the Thonus deal for Iggy doesn't make much sense for Philly...

.........Where does it say it in the article Thonus cites that he used "math" to decipher what Reinsdorf meant?

It's not literal math, you're taking it out of context or misinterpreting it.

He says this:

Add up the Reinsdorf paraphased quote math here...

1) I will pay the luxury tax to win a title

2) This team can win a title

3) If we had a scoring two we'd have beaten Miami

The first part means let's take all of Reinsdorf's quotes and put them together, sort of like math addition.

The next 3 parts is like saying 1+2+3= Reinsdorf would be willing to pay for Andre Iguodala or some other SG who makes a lot because we'd then be in a position to win a title which is the only reason he would go into the tax.

:obama:

Its funny that Riensdorff complains that we need a 2 guard when he approves overpaying garbage and let's his puppet Paxson botch up possible deals to get a 2guard and doesn't want to spend money on a worthy cause..

LOL at this.

Thonus posts a quote by Reinsdorf...which says NOTHING about team finances, the luxury tax, signing a player or anything even close to it and the first point Thonus takes from the quote is that He will go into the luxury tax.

Where in Reinsdorf quote does Thonus draw this conclusion from?

Nothing Reinsdorf said could be "paraphrased" into anything about spending or signing.

I'm not sure which is a bigger joke, Thonus' "writing" or you defending/trying to explain his bullshit away.

Technically, you're right, there's nothing about the luxury tax in that particular quote. But as I posted before, Reinsdorf has said before the season that he would be willing to go into the tax. What I think Doug is doing is just taking quotes that Reinsdorf has made throughout the season (Reinsdorf has also said during the season that he thought we could win it all this year) and then comparing it with the quote that he posted in this particular article (which is the 3rd part of the so called "equation"). If you take all that into consideration, it makes sense.

I think the bigger joke is that you keep trying to attack me for simply trying to explain my thoughts on what he was trying to say and you will probably respond to this post and further try to attack me for trying to explain the logic that I believe you are incorrectly interpreting. You can hate Doug all you like, you can disagree with me all you like, but my opinion is just as valid as yours and to call me a joke for trying to show you the other side of an "argument" is, quite frankly, a joke.

I think Hou would be a little more reasonable here...plus he has a bit of respect for Doug so that alone probably makes his opinion much different from FirstTimer's.

Well I meant it in the sense, that if you disagree, he just attacks you and calls you stupid and never actually debates your points.

It's not like calling me stupid is going to prove anything anyway. If he wants to call me stupid, fine, I can take it. I know I'm not stupid.

I just don't like it when people attack your opinion and ignore valid points you make and try to put you down like they are some professional NBA analyst or something.

None of us are, so we should at least respect that fact.

Just because you follow 900 people on Twitter and use their opinions like their your own doesn't make you better than anyone else.

At least our opinions are our own.

LOL...am I the only one that notices that dude supposedly blocked me...yet mentions my damn name like its a religion? Absolutely hilarious. And Firsttimer is not my disciple. He and I have disagreed too. We are alike in that we both seek objectivity. I am not a fanboy of the Bulls, I am a Bulls fan...there is a HUGE difference.

That's fine and I respect that approach. I don't think I could be objective on everything when it comes to the Bulls, and so I don't make a claim to try to be objective. I'm a Bulls fan too, and so are the rest of us (well...most of us. I think someone was a Pacers fan and there are probably many others I'm forgetting) and I think that should keep us from trying to put each other down. We're all on the same side here and the point of a forum is to see different viewpoints on stuff. I think all of us go a little over the top sometimes when it comes to arguing a point. I'm not calling anyone out or anything, I'm just saying keep it civil, we're all on the same side here.
