What was wrong with the Edmonds deal... we paid him like nothing and got a left-handed power bat in him.

Liking something after the deal has been evaluated is kind of dumb.

It's about judging it at the time.

Hindsight is always 20/20

Only one other poster (besides myself) on PSD liked the liked the deal when it happened.

At the time it went down, I thought it was bringing on dead weight to drag a competitive team down. He did play fairly well for us for a couple of months, so it was a positive. However, I don't care if you pay $5 or $5M... if it's dead weight, it's a bad deal.

Well stated. It was quite the debate when he came on. He was slow to start the season before and it just happened to be that way for us.

Hell that might have been hendrys best deal in retrospect.

Yeah, I pretty much posted my list there in accordance to how I felt at the times of the deals.

Agreed. Yeah some i posted didn't turn out too bad. Like Marquis for example he turned out to be pretty solid for us.

I also hate us for not goin after Uggla in the offseason.

Ehhh... don't think you could top Hundley (who put up a total of 41 PA for the rest of his career after the trade) for Grudz/Karros. To be honest, it would be hard to find a deal better than that in all of MLB transactions that doesn't read: "Boston Sells Ruth to New York , Frazee Opens Theater Downtown".

I don't think Uggla's bat is worth his glove to be honest. However, I wonder if he could play 3B or 1B.

He's not ideal defensively but it's not sori/Kent bad either.

3B he would do well I think.

1b. I don't know if his bat holds up as well.
