I actually do want to draft a TE. However, my guy is Hunter Bryant.

He's basically what Pace/Nagy saw in trey burton but without the anxiety and penis problems.

Can Graham be a decent TE option for yes next year? Sure.

Was Graham worth going out and spending 9 million guaranteed out of the free agent gate? No.

As it stands now though, all that matters is the results. No one will care if he delivers.

There was no one else, and we needed a TE. Bad.

He's a better worse case scenario if Burton is injured/hobbling around than we had last year. We still need to draft a rookie.

People are bringing up his average yards per catch while totally ignoring that he had a career low in receiving yards.

Hey, I hope he pleasantly surprises. What’s done is done. But I’m not holding my breath.

I think a sleeper we might be able to get in the 5th or 6th round is D.Keene. I thought he was great at multiple combine drills.

I know Bears fans don't wanna think positive but just think how good we can be if Burton is healthy next year to go with what the veteran in Graham can do for us? A Burton/Graham duo at TE could be really good for us as long as whoever's starting at QB can play well for us.

In the mod forum planning your ban
I dont think I was more against Graham as a player but I was more for Hooper. I was shocked the Falcons even let him hit F.A

OK so I've heard dozens of times now that Jimmy Graham is on the downside of his career, he can't run, and he should retire. No one will deny that the Bears aren't getting the 2013 version of Jimmy Graham. He IS older. He ISN'T the player he once was.

BUT:

He was a top 10 TE in yards two years ago. 18th last year.
His average yards per catch of 11.8 last year was better than: Ertz, Hooper and Olsen and not far behind Kelce and Kittle. He can still run, just not 2013 style.
He was targeted only 60 times last year. (the lowest since his rookie year) That's part of the reason for the lower yards output.
He had 7 catches for over 20 yards. One of 17 TE's in the league.

So my point being.... Graham CAN still play. He's not going to the pro bowl. He IS going to provide a solid vet option for this offense. Coming off the **** show that was last year I'll take it.

Watch the highlights video below. (sorry, all I have) These are all from the last two years. Even an old JG can still run laps around what we had last year.

You compare his Yards per catch to Kelce and Kittle, then say the only reason he didn't have more total yards was his QB didn't throw to him a lot.

Don't you think if he was even remotely close to Kelce and Kittle (he wasn't), his QB would throw to him a lot?

Doesn't lack of chances from the guy who knew him best tell you how ineffective he was?

Supposedly TE depth in the draft is slim, so this is just the Bears kicking the can down the road.

We're flinging shit on the wall & hoping either Graham or Burton stick.

Yeah Kelce had 12.7 yards per catch and Kelce 12.4. JG had 11.8 You know who beat all of them? JP Holtz had 13 and lead the Bears in yards per catch.

So **** it, TE is solved, we don't even need Graham or Burton, we just need to get the ball more to Holtz and we straight. LMFAO!

I already mentioned this. He first of all didn’t have a career low in yards. That was his rookie year. He had his second lowest yards and not coincidentally he had his second lowest number of targets. Obviously the targets go down and the yards go down too. I wish people would quit being lazy and saying "well the yards were low, he must be done." Watch him play. Does he look done? Or does he look like someone that can help this team?

He looks done.

With any luck, Burton stays healthy (one can dream) and the Bears hopefully don’t have to rely much on Graham.

I used the YPC to illustrate he's putting up stats comparable or better than TE's people consider to be the best. He's obviously not Kelce or Kittle. As people have mentioned MANY times now on this board AR doesn't do well with Tight Ends for some reason. It also was a new scheme last year so maybe that had something to do with it as well. Also AR threw for 440 yards LESS last year. Maybe AR is the one declining?

Go look at Jason Witten's YPC. You can clearly watch it fall over his career as he ages. You don't see than with Graham.
