Sounds like the only option is to call in sick and just put up with their shit. Since you rarely call in sick, hopefully at the end of the day they'll give you the benefit of the doubt even though they're going to give you shit.

If I call in sick, they would definitely call for various reasons. The interview is at least 45 mins. from work so I can't go in for an hour and leave.
They have Wed. and Thurs. interviews too but only at 10:00 a.m. so it probably has to be a Friday. I think the following weekend is memorial weekend too.

Stop being a puss. Tell them, "Knock, knock" when they say "whose there?" say "**** off". Then, proceed to pull out ya nut sack and give them the bat wing. And then, walk out and give the Breakfast Club fist pump. You could pay a homeless guy a fiver to play "Dont You". You may have to coordinate with him for the perfect timing that the song hits perfectly with the fist pump. The last part is totally up to you doe.

I hear you brother. I think its like this, do you think you can get the job? Sometimes you have to go out on a limb to get what you deserve. Dont stop progress because you are worried. Fear stops progress. Your company seems to instill fear in their employee's by constant hounding. I dont think you are going to find the right excuse. I think you are just going to have to say one and eat shit, but in the end, you could come out smelling like a rose. Good luck man. Everyone deserves a break and hope you get one.

Take them to court for harassment. Keep a call record log and if they are dumb enough to leave voicemails there you go. Sue them for harassment. Any 300 a.m. Tv lawyer would take that in a heartbeat looking for the settlement.

I have an interview set next Friday at 10:00 and need an excuse to get out of work.

Here's the catch: My boss(s)/Co. owners are psycho. In there eyes there is no acceptable reason to miss work. Even if you call in sick (which I rarely do), they call all day for no good reason but to harass you. No paid vacation days either and I'm strictly on commissions. I take off less time than anyone there and most years only take a long weekend for a "vacation". Very burnt out.
Last week I had to miss three days to drive to N.Y. for my grandmothers wake and funeral on top of everything.

However, we are off at noon on Friday's although I usually work from home anyways. Some weekends too.
My plan is the ask to go in to work Friday afternoon by myself instead, which I know I'll get shit for but I don't know of any other options.
Bottom line, I need an excuse for needed to take the morning off while not being accessible by phone. It's a small office and they know all of my past medical issues (nothing major) so I doubt a doctors excuse would cut it. I'm not a good liar either.

Anyone have a good (serious) suggestion or idea?

man my old boss used to wear me the **** out like that. ****** would call me all the time in the evenings wanting to talk about work the plan for tomorrow shit like that he finally fucked around and called me on a fireball night and I just told him look **** face I don't caaaare I work for you from 7 to 330 when im not there your bullshit doesn't even cross my fucking mind

Off the top of my head, some of the fake go-to excuses I would get as a boss, and have a hard time questioning them.

Basement flooded/sewer came up into the basement
The good old call in, say your name clearly, but cough through your excuse on the voicemail
Threw your back out
Twisted an ankle
Car troubles (some of these are great if you want to show up late) Something like; you think it's a dead alternator but hope it's just a battery.


*Might need a note/evidence
Pink eye
Bad allergic reaction, neck is damn near swollen shut from eating something trying to figure out WTF it was
Witness to a crime/accident


Truth is stranger than fiction. So if whatever it is seems totally possible, but may not seem instantly believable, it could be easier for you to sell the bad lie(seeing that you're claiming to be a bad liar). Once a guy said he was the victim of identity theft, and had all of his credit cards and accounts frozen and had to clear this up during business hours. He wasn't a particularly good liar, which played in his favor. Found out later he was hung over and stayed up all night watching a documentary about ID theft with someone else he worked with. whoops

And the best all-purpose one of all. Modify whatever excuse, say things are out of your control, but you'll be late. Then just make a follow up call complaining about whatever excuse problem you have later if you want to blow off the whole day.
