Who knows who the hell they want. Theo really doesn't say much beyond generalities leaving people scratching their heads when moves aren't made.

I am not sure why any GM would have to tell the fan base anything. Even if they said that they are targeting someone (which means very little BTW), they wouldn't have enough paper and ink to explain to the general public why moves are, or are not being made.

What would it say to the team if the Cubs said "We will not be outbid for Jason Heyward"? I am sure Jorge Soler would be up in arms, and the organization would not get the best deal possible if rival GM's knew that the Cubs had to trade him. :dunno:

What would Jorge Soler have to be up in arms about? Guy's been around for a second and still has to pay his dues.

Happened with the Red Sox with Price.

Sox were planning to pay top dollar. Cubs I don't see that at all. If they were they would have got Price vs Lackey.

I don't see Heyward as a Cub. Cubs needed pitching first and have done what they said. Added Lackey and some arms added to the 40 man.

I still do not know how they will approach CF but as far a OF D it would make more sense to hire a OF coach like they had and get the most out of Soler and Schwarber. Those 2 most likely are the future.

He is a rotational piece of at least 5 pitchers, and let's face it, they had very little and they wanted to scare off other teams.

Soler is a RF'er that if Heyward came in, would probably know his days were numbered, as would other GM's.

Mark Gonzales @MDGonzales
Lackey contract breakdown: Signing bonus - $7 million,
$12.5 million in 2016;
$12.5 million in 2017

Sort of interesting structure. Basically means AFAIK he's making $19.5 mil this coming year and $12.5 next.
