Plenty of people living vicariously through computer simulations.

honestly, that's what I worry about more... situations like the movie Surrogates where we've devolved so much as a society that we can't physically interact with each other anymore.

Fantasy Sports are real damn it.

I'm sure you and your husband are really good at "Celebrity Role-Play: Hide the Sausage" but you really need to stop sending me the pictures.

Seriously, you look nothing like Burt Reynolds.

Without going into a religious bent, it has the same exact amount of evidence as does the existence of a god(s)

Yeah, it does, but although "God" doesn't have evidence he does have many more documents that speak of his existence (not that it really matters but IMO all of them are theories). This is clearly just a theory by a nutjob in Dr. Bostrom.

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/08/14/science/14tier.html?_r=1

Dr. Bostrom doesn’t pretend to know which of these hypotheses is more likely, but he thinks none of them can be ruled out. “My gut feeling, and it’s nothing more than that,” he says, “is that there’s a 20 percent chance we’re living in a computer simulation.”

Almost 65%! Here is what makes my head spin:

Of course, it’s tough to guess what the designer would be like. He or she might have a body made of flesh or plastic, but the designer might also be a virtual being living inside the computer of a still more advanced form of intelligence. There could be layer upon layer of simulations until you finally reached the architect of the first simulation — the Prime Designer, let’s call him or her (or it).

Oh ok... so we aren't just living in a computer simulation, but we are also created by another virtual person LOL! What kind of goofy shit is this? I think its more possible that we were visited by aliens before believing this crap. 20% chance!

This truly is one of those train wrecks, I can't look away. I just read and laugh.

I don't have a disc... would my "thumb drive" be ok to use?

Only if you have it in a special holder on your back. That's just how it is so I don't want any lip monkey!

Again it sounds about as dumb as all the religions of the world throughout history.

the problem with this theory is hes really just pulling it out of his ass.

Religion, for example, is different, in my opinion at one point thousands of years ago someone did like this guy and pulled it out of his ass. Back then people easily believed shit pulled out of asses. Now adays there is too much time in between the source and current state. so no one can verify as to holy books accuracy or inaccuracy, and alot of people have no problem just taking it on face value.

This guy just says "theres a 20% chance we are living in a computer simulation" um, based on what? What is the evidence, other than it simply being a possibility? You can chaulk just about anything into the realm of possibility. i could say Im God and I created everything and its just as plausible, since I dont like to use my powers in front of people whilst in my mortal vessel.

All hail TSD!

The more we become educated as a society, the less we need theological conflagrations to explain 'why'.

Here's the big question, prove that god exists or prove that we are in a simulation, or prove that we just are.

You can't that's why this theory has to given the same possibility as the rest of them

Actually, there's a 20% chance I'm God.

I did the math and it all works out... but I lost it, so don't ask for any proof.

No. I am god. (for 100 points quote the movie)
