Things go better with Scott - he doesn't look comfortable in the press box. And who said he had to play the puck?

Well if they continue to put him on defense he has to. I don't care about his 5 minutes of ice time as a 4th line forward. Stop giving him the responsibilities of a d-man. Make whatever move you have to in order for that to stop happening. Shouldn't be that hard.

would be fine if Hammer and Montador weren't out. Scott should be on the fourth line. Nobody is debating that.

Hawks are 13-2-9 with Scott in the lineup...

That's very interesting...I was noting that when he plays we usually win. We went 0-3 without Scott in the playoffs last year and 3-1 with him. I firmly believe it is because Vancouver did not have the stones to run guys with "big brother" dressed. When Q announced Scott was in for game 3 and Be-suck-sa went ape-shit with insults about it I knew we were striking a nerve there.

And Scott makes mistakes no doubt but I have been watching him closely this year and I think he's really cut down his liability by positioning himself well. Maybe he is learning some tricks from O'Donnell? I think his skating is a bit better too.

He has a skating coach he's worked with since the off season.

Exactly. Good things happen when he's around. Not for him, per se, but for the team.

I also wish the Linesmen would stop trying to protect the rest of the World by always grabbing Scott and preventing him from doing his job.

I'll bet you never imagined I would venture into this thread. Scott's fight against the midget has got to be one of the all-time classic fights in NHL history. I've been showing it to everyone. And not just because of the disparity in size, but Scott's priceless facial expressions, then kicking the midget's glove or helmet .... whatever it was....and laffing...

was quite surprised they let him go the last two.

i think Scott has learned, like how whats-his-face said about just not giving the opponent a chance to say no, neither is he allowing the linesmen a chance to jump in, cuz if were them as soon as Scott has an arm back and ready i wouldnt wanna be in the area haha.

I dont know what it is that I love about Scott so much. Watching him reconstruct faces or his easy going sense of humor on and off the ice. He doesnt strike me as someone who takes himself so seriously like many hockey goons of the past. There is a calmness to his demenour that is strange for a guy who is 9 foot 6 and 600 lbs. I really think the team reacts to the guy well and how he can lighten a bench.

I appreciate the John Scott for what he is.

I like him being iced, and I would be happy if he played every game, but as a fourth liner, not a 6th defensemen.

To be honest, there are nights that he plays better than O'Donnell on defense.

Regardless, keep him in the lineup and let him get some ice-time. I know the players like when he's in the lineup...

that may be true, but fact is, Q will only play him 6 minutes tops, so that just gives Keith/Seabrook close to 30 min a game, and O'Donnell somehow gets almost 20!

Agree completely--much more comfortable with him at wing.

It is nice though that if he is in as a forward and someone goes down, he can play about as well as O'Donnell in a pinch. I really hope we keep this guy past this season for his intangibles and the "glue" he gives our team chemistry. Wouldn't mind seeing him on the 4th line with Burish...that tandem could make Vancouver come unhinged.
