We could always hire the two Bobs from Office Space.
They would straighten this place up.

Oh, right I get it now. You can't script everything and you are right, it comes down to managing people and their personalities. Sometimes you have to go with the flow of the conversation to bring them off the ledge.
I liken it to George Clooney's character in "Up in the Air". He made a living as a guy that fired people for companies so they wouldn't have to do it themselve. However, even he had certain things he was scripted to say. The rest of the conversation was his personal art of dealing with the person in a vulnerable and fragile state.
I propose all the mods watch "Up in the Air" and learn better conflict de-escalation. I'm just kidding, don't tell me to **** off.
Then ban me...oh, wait you cant!
And there are others tangibles you throw in there. Member A has been here from the start, while Member B just started. Who get's the leeway. Who's more valuable. Will "knock it off" work or like a physical warning will it just get worse.
Puck Jim specifically said it should be easy. He has no clue. And strange MIA through the rest of this he started Twittering.
**** OFF, it's already on my queue.
Oops. Did you read the plot? I didn't ruin anything. Don't be a whiny *****. We obviously don't like those around here.
ding ding ding we have a winnah.
The "vets" get a lot of leeway, I'd rather PM them to have them stop whatever they are doing instead of a formal warning, hell rather do that with the new posters as well but that really depends on the severity of the problem post.
It isn't black and white in the mod world, just infinite shades of gray. If we made it black and white, a lot of the freedom the posters currently enjoy would go south and the mods would be disliked because we'd be have to be very strict.
Just out of curiosity, what qualifies someone as a vet? Post count? Join date? Both?
we love them. Without them there would be absolutely NO DRAMA and they'd also be on that list of MANY users that don't post here anymore.
I've also thrown out several times this site has gone through three pretty radical changes. Some posters were in deed lost in the shuffle.

And you can **** yourself too!
To me I don't really treat people differently, new, old, young, old, sarcastic, old... whatever. But to me it's not a question of Vet but contributor. Doesn't matter how long, how many posts, whatever. I "troll" every thread. To me I tend to give more leeway to those who contribute more overall to the community. Having said that, I don't think I've ever had a problem with anyone to where I've had to officially warn them or PM them. Maybe once.... but I think that was TSD and he'd been drinking... heavily. Other than that, the only person was the person who we banned.
All I ever wanted was to air what I thought were issues with IHN.
They were my issues....If others agree or have different ones, that's on them.
It seemed the place had lost what was great about it.
I never intended to call anyone out specifically, and have actually issued a mea culpa to one member via PM, as I didn't want them to think I was directing anything only at them.
Hopefully this thread can just get old and die. The hilarity in here is a good start.
And I have pretty thick skin and will never back down from an argument when I'm correct.
The truest thing written in this whole thread was, "Puckjim is an idiot.". Someone deserves a signed hat for that. They are dead on!
I did give the older members the benefit of the doubt.
And not in total posts, but those I knew when we all evacuated the SHIT HOLE, suck MCdonough ****, message board.
I see you are no worse for wear after pulling out the Dick!
