Kane back to RW

I think the lethargic performance is more to do with the "system" Q is preaching to these guys. "Stay in your lanes, active sticks, don't get out of position." Guys aren't just going out and playing their game. Look at all the players that were physical last season, that came here and are a shell of themselves. Carcillo started out a beast, and now he's fallen right into line with the rest of guys on this team that are afraid to be out of position making a hit. Montador? OD? Hammer? Seabrook? All these guys are less physical than they were in previous seasons. Even Hossa, Sharp, and Bolland are hitting far less.

And that's bullshit that coaching doesn't affect the motivation. Look at the difference in Pittsburgh since Bylsma took over. How about the difference in St. Louis? A properly coached team has confidence and swagger when they take the ice. This team doesn't have it.

They most certainly do have it, it's just not consistant. When St. Louis continues that the entire season I'll think more of it. Until then, that's 99% what happens to a team when a new coach takes over.

Which brings us back to coaching. Q does not seem to be able to get the consistancy.

They remind me of Nashville, to be perfectly honest. Sit back and wait for the opposition to **** up. Never pushing the pace, never with an aggressive forecheck. The puck possession is fucking terrible too. The team is really confusing.

I wouldn't be motivated to play for Q either. To be perfectly honest, it looks more and more like he's lost this team. The constant line juggling has to be driving these guys fucking nuts. Nobody knows their role. Am I grinder, or a finesse guy? Am I a shutdown guy, or a guy who should take chances and worry about putting the puck in the net? Look what Q did to Kane by moving him to center? Way too worried about defense, and producing jack shit offensively. Not even the defense can stay the same from game to game.

I watch a few PITT games here and there (they seem to have a game every fucking night)...and Malkin/Staal seem to play wing and center with Crosby and every other different line combinations and Blysma is conisdered a "good coach". DET plays Zetteberg/Datsyuk together at times - Franzen moves from Wing/Center at times during games...a lot of teams do it now. Some don't as well. Depends on the team and talent. Q switched Sharp/Hossa in ANA and it worked well for Toews/Sharp. When the team is winning..he keeps the same lineups and matchups - until they struggle.

Sometimes it's also done to get a player going. Kane/Hossa were incredible at the start - but Toews wasn't doing anything. They needed him to get going, so they put Hoss there - and what's Toews been doing since? Bolland/Frolik/Bickell were counted on to be consistant...played good the first 4-5 games this year...then haven't done anything offensively. He's tried to get Frolik going - putting him on the top 2 lines, and still can't get any offense from him at all. There's only so much a coach can do to try to jump start a player or two.

I'd bet if this lineup plays well/wins tonight...it'll be the same come Saturday vs STL

I don't see any team in the league that fucks with lines mid-game as much as Q does. I also don't see any teams that are as fucking obsessed about matchups as he is. Often times to the detriment of the game. Some of his line changes are fucking IDIOTIC, and it has cost us goals on numerous occasions. Sometimes you have to just let the guys play. The constant stressing of "matchups" has to get in player's heads too. What, are we not good enough to take a shift or two against the other team's top line? We're just scrubs or what?

Honestly, I think it's Q trying to force a system rather than tailoring a system around the guys he has.

line matching isn't a terrible idea, it worked to great effect during our cup run but the line juggling is a fucking joke

It's the matter of degree we're talking about. Our top-3 lines ideally should be able to at least hold out against any line the opposition throws at us for enough time to get a good change.

This chinese firedrill crap has to stop.

No, not you specifically.....but I do read a lot of posts where "Toews must have said something in the locker room to get the team going" whenever the team plays better, but when they play lethargic - Q doesn't motivate them enough

I mean have you watched this team play in Anaheim? Toews literally came out in the third and won the game for us, did you see it game 7 with a minute left last year, I mean the list goes on. There is very good reason for people like us on the outside to feel that Toews is the one who gets them motivated and does the majority of turning around the team when were in a slump. Cause whenever we do go into a slide Q is freaking the **** out with lines, putting Kane with Mayers, playing Keith 31 minutes, I mean the list goes on with Q when this team isn't playing well. But when it comes to something concrete that us "fans" can grasp, its Toews potting 4 points in the third to salvage the most important road trip of the year.

Why do we even talk about these things? Kane playing rw with toews and kruger 2nd line center is just a theory which will last 10 minutes.

Idk PMX, Pitt has a really good thing going and I definitely have never seen Crosby with those two. On the PP its him and Malkin and Staal centering the 2nd unit but otherwise its pretty regimented. Crosbys 1st line center, Malkin's line because he doubles playing wing and center, Staals line then. But really the argument is somewhat useless considering their center depth.

i liked Munro, was a bit disappointed he went to Europe so quick, thought he was a serviceble, develop-able backup. Oh well.
