Kanye's already been in the biz for about 20 years. He has 21 grammy's and has sold over 21 million records with another 66 million digital downloads. The guy's a fucking ****** bag and a half, but he's a lot more successful than some of you want to give him credit for.

Are you speaking in terms of the marketing plans you were taught in 1985 or the more current models of marketing? Kanye won because there is this giant thing called social media and instant advertising and instant branding that he knows how to exploit. You realize that there is this giant portion of our culture now who just sit around waiting to discuss topics like Kanyes whackiness..oh so whacky. Gotta tweet...gotta blog...gotta youtube...gotta get on CSS and talk about Kanye and his craaaaaaaazy ways.

This all has nothing what so ever to do with his music anyways as this guy has investments in a lot of other areas most which would be unkown to average individual. He is in no threat of losing his financial well being by scaring off a few potential dollars from itune purchases. Kanye fans love this kind of shit he plays and they expect it from him. Do you really think Kanye believes his own gimmick and schtick? He is pulling an andy khaufman on everyone who hates and can't see past his schtick and to those who get it who are entertained by it and expect it.

I've thought this as well, but I'm really not 100% sure. I still listen to his music, I don't pay attention to what he does normally, unless people go apeshit over it like they are here.

You bring up a good point in general about the modern artists of today..To me they seem more interested in the visuals than the quality of their music..

Perfect example was Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga on the Grammy's

Tony was just trying to sing the song, and there was Gaga all dressed up like Jessica Rabbit, waving her hands in front of Bennett's face with 4 inch nails making a spectacle of herself. I thought she was gonna put Bennett's eye out... Her voice is very good, but ya couldn't concentrate on it because she looked so out of place in the jazz setting Bennett and his group displayed. If she would have toned down the visual, the performance would have been very good..

The music for rap isn't very complicated stuff..Its very basic. I've heard rap songs that have a total of 1 chord in them......Its the lyrics that take some skill to write, and most of the lyrics are't very poetic either..Writing 132 of those type songs don't strike me as being that hard to do. Especially if ya have all day to sit around and think about em.

Probably because you're listening to the mainstream shit, aka pop hop. A ton of what is played on the radio today is pure garbage.

The thing is, these are artists and\or entertainers in a business. Sometimes the style and the stage act is more important than the songs to make the sale. Sometimes they are the same....but not all artist and\or entertainers get to choose their way to make a living in the industry. The few that get to control both sides of the artistry and entertainment are rare as they are rare to begin with....not all make the money for doing it either.
