Email K.C. Johnson: Of late, Bulls management are in talks with Denver and Toronto Gm's discussing a possible trade that could land Carmelo Anthony here. It's inexact but that's the current spill.

POSSIBLE
Nuggets: Bosh, Salmons

Chicago: Anthony, Iverson trade exception, Raptors 9th overall

Raptors: Deng, Thomas, Bulls 16th & 26th overall

Carmelo didn't have a very good year last year, but had a pretty good playoffs, so I'm a bit surprised. I bet they must think that one of Martin or Nene is going to get injured again, as they have a well balanced roster right now.

That 9th overall pick isn't coming to Chicago though, it would probably stay in Toronto, as they would start rebuilding. (Deng's good for the rebuild because of his young age, and they seemed to have always liked them).

I could definitely see Vinny wanting Carmelo. If you re-sign Ben Gordon, you have a perimeter trio that has the other team peeing their pants, because they know they can't stop them. Maybe sign Rasheed Wallace if Reinsdorf is feeling generous, or otherwise, Mario Austin might be able to be our power forward next year.

I think that trade makes sense for all sides, since Toronto knows they're losing Bosh (the lure of Miami, to play with a better team, with far less taxes will be way too tempting for Bosh to pass up).

Not that i can see this really happening but if it somehow did who would we take at 9 Jordan Hill ,Blair or is it your guy Mullens and let Joakim play the 4 ?Id also like if we could keep the 26th so we can draft a guy to back up Melo and Bg we would be thin trading both Salmons and Deng, so keep the 26th and draft Thorton...

My friend is a Nuggets fan, and we were talking about how volatile the team is with the particular players they have and how they could have the biggest drop off next season. That being said, they would be CRAZY to trade Melo. He I think the best pure scorer in the league only behind Kobe, but with Kobe showing his age of late, he won't be at number 2 for much longer. LeBron is a great scorer too, but Melo can score in more ways.

I would definitely not complain about acquiring him, but I just don't know. I was watching the 95 All star game, and there were all these players like Vin Baker and Shawn Kemp who were destined to be great, but had this sudden drop off and I would not be surprised if Melo is one of those players as well, where he just decides that his had enough of basketball and beings to slack off. Only assumptions of course, but in the end if you have a chance at a star like Melo you go for it, he is a top 10 player in the league right now after all.

I don't know how you could call Carmelo Anthony one of the best pure scorers in the league.

Carmelo Anthony - 22.8 PPG on 53.2 TS%
Ben Gordon - 20.7 PPG on 57.3 TS%

Last season, we had a better scorer on our own team.

If you had a clipboard and access to every team, every player and ever coach, and every other person that works for each and every franchise and ask them who is a better scorer, I can bet 99.9% would say Melo.

You go around again with a clipboard with that same statistic and ask the same question, 99.8% would still say Melo.

Carmelo Anthony might be more skilled (which is debatable because Gordon has as many offensive moves as anyone in the league)...so then it simply comes down to Anthony having the better body, which is a given.

But at the end of the day, Ben Gordon was better at scoring the ball than Carmelo Anthony last year. The stats are the results of what happened on the court, and the results say Gordon was better.

So you are saying you would rather have Gordon than Anthony if you had to choose between the two?

In general you take Carmelo Anthony because he has the better talent and physical package.

But if this becomes a regular trend, where Gordon it outplaying Carmelo, then you obviously take Gordon. No use ignoring the results. In the past, Anthony was scoring something like 28 PPG at ~56 TS%. Then, no doubt, you take Carmelo, while in most years, he probably is scoring a little less efficiently than Gordon, the volume trade off is worth it. But if Carmelo continues to have years like last year, where his volume is down, and he's not scoring that effiiently, than you easily take Gordon and don't really think twice about it.

I gotta get a drink after reading that. You could shoot Carmelo in the head and make him play 5 minutes after and he would be a better player than Gordon! I cannot believe what I am reading sometimes, its just ridiculous. Carmelo IS TWICE the player Gordon is! Are you serious?

If Carmelo Anthony is twice the player that Gordon is, why did Gordon produce better on the offensive end?

I love Gordon but you take Melo over him anytime. BTW lets not make this into a Gordon thread, we have enough of them.

I don't see why the Raptors would be giving up their pick in this trade, it doesn't make sense. Also if this were the trade, I would rather go on our own with Toronto and get Bosh. I think Bosh would be a better fit for our team than Melo would. I would rather have Gordon/Bosh/Salmons than I would Gordon/Melo assuming we sign Gordon. This trade also does not help us in the post at all. It makes our post problem an even bigger problem than it already is.

Carmelo can do EVERYTHING BETTER THAN GORDON! Better rebounder, defender, better scorer, everything!

So you would take Gordon over......Scottie Pippen in his prime?

I don't need stats to tell me who the best is...I watch the games.

I sure hope there's a link to this story before I laugh it off as internet rumor. This report needs some background to it and fast.

I don't see why we would need Denver, cut them out and it turns into:

Chicago: Bosh, Raptors 9th overall(pick could easily be left out)

Raptors: Deng, Thomas, Bulls 16th & 26th overall (picks could be dropped if possible)

If you're over on realgm, you might remember me reporting a few things coming from techn9ne.

This rumor is completely false and I doubt KC reported this. If he did, why hasn't he made an article on it?
