Bring him home?

If yes, how much and how long a deal? He’s 33 and still playing well. (34 in February)
I would love to have him back but would think he's looking for a win now team with this being the last what, 2 -3 years of his career? I mean if he thought about retirement after this season ended for him then i would think that thought will be in his head after next season as well. So i'm a yes but don't think he'd choose us with all the other teams that'll offer him contracts.

I doubt he comes back. He likely ends up in the AFC

We've got plenty of talent, what appears to be the right head coach and Caleb Williams. I'm not saying we're favorites or anything but a quick turn-around is entirely possible. Look at the Texans last year and the Commanders this year for examples.

If signing Mack for a year as a stop-gap on the line allows us to shovel a little more resources into the offensive line then even better.

Mack. Trey Smith. Drew Dalman. (Free agents)

Draft a tackle round 1. Round 2 draft a guard and DT. Round 3 draft best RB available.

You’re welcome.

(And don’t tell me Smith won’t hit FA. I read yesterday he probably will and I am trying to win the offseason here)

Smith likely gets tagged and then traded for a 3rd like DB Sneed the year before.

Definitely not on a huge contract. I don't think he wants to be here, probably ends up in a warm weather city or ring chasing somewhere in the AFC like Vonn Miller.

Wouldn't be surprised if Detroit signs him. Or Washington.

He seemed to like playing for Harbaugh. I think he stays in LA

Yeah we could turn it around and be a playoff team next year so i'm not going to shut that down but i just think we'll need a year. Caleb will have to learn a new system and he really has some important things he needs to work on with his game. We're gonna have 2 or 3 new OL and that'll take time to build continuity between them and the DL i think needs more help then some think.

A quick turn around would be absolutely awesome but i'm just not going to go into next season with my hopes too high. We also still have Poles running the offseason with the draft, free agency and trades and he needs to absolutely nail it and my confidence isn't overly high right now with him.

That cap space we have is going to go real quick before we even hit free agency with re-signing guys (Kyler Gordon is a must re-sign IMO) and just filling out the 53. Whoever we don't bring back will need to be replaced.

A few things about the division:
  • If Ben Johnson is the coach we hope he is then it's reasonable to expect the Lions take a big hit on offense, going from a top offense to maybe just "good." If that happens then they could tumble back down to around an 11 win team, or maybe worse if things snowball in the wrong direction.
  • The Vikings were exposed by the Rams in the playoffs. Good season but not as good as their record. We'll see what they've got in JJ but they might not be the big threat they were this past season.
  • Jordan Love just isn't that good. He's not bad by any means but that Packers team looks like it'll have trouble getting much better than they were this year, which is good but not great.
Obviously we have to have a lot things go right but we also had just about everything that could go wrong on us go wrong on us this past season. You just never know in the NFL.

All that said: is that a great sales pitch to Khalil Mack? Not really. If I were him I'd look to jump on board with a contender for a reduced price. If the Eagles lose Josh Sweat then that would be a perfect landing spot.
