Players that are at the twilight of their careers and finally winning the cup are some of the most humble beings on the earth.
We all know he was needed to chew 5-7 minutes a night, which put a heavier burden on the top 4, but oh well. Still a great veteran presence, even though the better years were long gone.
A cup was won and he'll be immortalized on it soon.

A storybook ending to an awesome career.

I know the Hawks didn't like playing against him, though they respected him, back in 2010.

You should switch your avitar from DK, I likes BTW, to KT.

I was looking for a pic of him and Tuevo hugging or something but couldn't find anything decent. DK has been my favorite Hawk for years now and him winning the CS trophy just reaffirms what an absolute badass he is. Nobody could be more deserving in the entire NHL. They should give him the Norris again too but whatevs...

If ya win the Conn Smythe, there should be a reconsderation, or petition, process, to get the player onto the Norris ballot (because I say so). PK Subban, the best D-man in the league. Give me an egotistical break!

Fixed

Rundblad could choose to leave the NHL for Euro hockey where he would fit in better, but not likely...

No, nobody else on the Hawks is winning his first cup and retiring next year. And nobody else is likely at all to retire except Rozival but he doesn't seem like he wanted to from talking about it previously.

Vermette is a long time vet with a cup, but he's only 32 and still has years of hockey left to play.

I just hope Doughty wins it... the offensive Dman is a shame. Weber and Sutter lost to Subban and Karlson in the Norris by like 13-30 votes ranges in the seasons of the past which was a sham.

I don't see the problem. He got a shot at his last hurrah and has his name engraved on the cup forever.

I think Dejardins gets resigned here.

I swear this is a fickle fanbase. Can't even be happy when a blackhawk wins the cup. Good for all our boys, I say.

Maybe certain people just felt this time around it was a disappointing Cup win?

I like peoples ideas that we should trade Saad for JVR, then we can have that pair of big brothers on the team instead of the one we lost which is made up for it thanks to winning the Kermonen man his trophy.

Now after that, I don't know what it would take but somehow Kyle Turris would need to be acquired, I'm sure Ottawa has plenty of wives available for Sharpie, just add in Nick Schmaltz and we'll get Turris, No need for Schmaltz anyway now as St. Louis didn't lose his older brother and signed him this year. No brothers, no deal

The only way anyone would be disappointed with winning the fucking cup is if they started watching in 2010.

Couple of questions:

Did anyone else who won the Cup last night have the career Kimmo has had?

Was anyone else winning the Cup for the first time also retiring immediately after?

I'm happy for Kimmo, he's a good dude and very well respected. How many players can say they played their last game and won a championship doing so?

He's from another culture. I find European men to be self centered in general, but not as bad as Arab men even though their culture pretends to be about giving to others. And human beings in general. We have some cool guys like Keith/Desjardins/Crawford/Toews that always mention others first. Kanes the hottest shit on skates and even he has learned to mention Keith and Crawford before he talks about himself.
