*sigh* This seemed so long ago... That really was the series that pushed this team into the upper echelon. Even though we lost, there was no doubt in my mind we were headed in the right direction.

I believe Crys is saying that even a teenage Rose > Ben Gordon.

Nope.

In hindsight, Hinrich helped you in more ways, but no, I can't say Gordon was inferior to Hinrich...not at all. Hinrich was very inefficient from the field shooting while Gordon was fairly efficient most of his time with Chicago.

Neither were top 10 at their positions...and Gordon was cold blooded in the clutch, Hinrich was horrible in most clutch situations when it came to shooting the ball.

On a grander scale, its like comparing Amare to Lamar Odom...Odom helps you in more ways, but is he better than Amare? I don't think so. I am talking about prime Odom, not the guy in Dallas right now...

Hinrich more versatile but couldn't make an impact in basketball games the way Gordon did.

There's more to the game than scoring a lot of points. Hinrich was our best on ball defender. Something BG was never good at.

Hinrich could guard 3 positions effectively, while BG couldn't even guard his. People hardly ever lit Kirk up, while Ben was getting lit up more often than not. Hinrch was a point guard and not a scoring PG, he was a passing guard that ran the offense. Gordon's job was to score and he did it well, but his defense and ball handling sucked major balls.

You seem to over value scoring while under valuing defense and the other parts of the game. Or am I misinterpreting you?

We're probably overvaluing scoring in this context because that's what the Bulls need more of. It's the only true weakness this team has (outside of the ridiculous amount of injuries). Sure, Hinrich is a better defender than Gordon, but he sure as shit isn't a better scorer. I think that's why everyone is bringing up Gordon.

That isn't in dispute though. No one will argue that Gordon was a better scorer, that was his job. Kirk was a decent scorer, but he had things that put him over Gordon more than people want to give him credit for.

So then tell me...who is better? Odom or Amare?

If I overvalued scoring, why would I even bother comparing 2 guys who have a 7 point disparity in career ppg? I think you misinterpret what I am saying, most definitely.

I thought about that when making the comparison between the two players. I value Gordon more now than I ever have, though I still think his self value mixed in with the mandatory spare parts you would need for a complete back court...makes him undesirable.

I always wanted a Brandon Roy type shooting guard...but then, Roy WAS Hinrich and Gordon combined...but 3 inches taller than either of them.

My problem with Gordon fans was that when I would say Joe Johnson is a better player than Gordon...I caught flack for it. Joe on this team??? My goodness...you are talking dynasty...

The comparison of Amare to Odom is not relevant to that of Hinrich and Gordon. Stoudemire garners complaints because he is not a great rebounder and not a good defender when he has physical tools that give him the capability of being that. While it's true that Gordon's greatest strength (scoring) could indeed change a basketball game, it is also true that Gordon had liabilities (defense/ball-handling) that could also change a basketball game that took away from his overall game. Hinrich did not have great strengths but he did have some strengths and no real liability to speak of. And if Gordon is "cllutch" than Hinrich can't be far away from that label.

Wait, so Gordon was trolling Hinrich? Hinrich would bust his ass, do a little of everything, cover down on Gordon, because he was chillaxing on the court. Then when Hinrich was gassed, Gordon would decide he was going to take the game seriously in the 4th. Hmmmm. LOL

if we're going by who's more important now, definitely gordon but thats not saying alot when you consider that kirk is a middle of the road backup put in for leadership and D

ben gordon has had a piss poor year on a piss poor team...and then today scores 45 points....mmmmkk

thing is..if gordon doesnt score he really becomes a liability...kirk can help in so many facets

that said..gun to my head..i pick gordon right now...though i really dont see why you want anything to do with him...sure he can shoot 3s and create his own shot..but you also have to factor in the comment above

as for their bulls careers, its a toss up...gordon has advantages in the clutch and as a scorer and shooter

kirk is much more team oriented, great defender, better as a PG but not the scorer or self-sufficient scorer that gordon is..hinrich is actually a pretty good 3p shooter..but gordon is one of the best

because of team impact and multi-dimensional abilities..i take kirk through his time in chicago by a slight edge

What??? You said the analogy wasn't relevant, and just showed its relevancy...totally confusing...

And no, Hinrich was not clutch at all....especially when compared to Gordon.

No need to be that hostile about it. That's why I asked if I was misinterpreting you. Didn't want to make the wrong assumption.

As far as Amaré or Odom. Amaré is the better offensive player but his defense sucks balls. Odom is a decent defender from what I know and can start at all 5 positions and has done it.

But in the end Amaré is better because he a player you build around while Odom is a player you add on.
