Dodger Stadium only charges $10 to park. Time for the Sox to wake up & smell the hot coffee.

We're taking the US Cellular Express bus in Oak Lawn to the game on July 8th. $8 total both ways.

If I lived close to Chicago, I would go to a ton of games. So many ways to get there cheap and any seat you sit in, is a good seat to watch the game.

But I think the biggest problem is that it isn't a great neighborhood and people are hesitant to bring family there. And spend the money for that. And kids get too antsy. Parents are taking their kids to games anymore. They're taking them to the zoo where they can leave whenever.

Back in the day a dad could take his kid and not spend a fortune so that if they wanted to leave early, they wouldn't freak about wasting a ton of money.
I have been going to Sox games since I was a kid not once have I felt any danger in going...trust me the area is way better than it used to be back in the day...I never understood why people are scared of the area around comiskey.

there are a million ways to go to a game on the cheap, have ok seats, and have a good time...just gotta put in work. the face value of tickets blah blah blah i dont really buy into since the white sox themselves do drop the prices.

Yeah the only way I ever buy any face value tickets is if alternate forms are rip offs.

If its cheaper its cheaper. Your ass is still in the seat and probably buying food and drink anyways.

He probably still sees the Stateway Gardens projects across the Dan Ryan.

Heck, I used to ride the CTA at night going to and from Sox games.

I know. I've been going to games since I was a baby. I'm just saying that some parents think that and therefore don't want to take their kids there.

Another problem is that people are Cubs fans. It's hard to make generations of Cubs fans become White Sox fans. They're loyal and they don't want to change. Some people think that if they become Cubs fans that they'll be thought of as loyal and when they finally win the World Series again, they'll be thought of as even more loyal.

Don't forget the "just graduated from Champaign but not quite ready to stop partying" crowd the Cubs tend to attract.

Seriously would you change your fan allegiance? I get tired of these dumb arguments, but the fact is I was a Cubs fan when I was 6. That is the team I started to follow growing up, and it will always be the team I follow.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago White Sox
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. Toledo Rockets
If I lived in Chicagoland/NW Indiana I'd probably go to a shit ton more games.

But, I live in Toledo and I can only go once or so a year due to price.

Although, before I started college I used to go like 3 times a season (went 3 times in 2008, 3 in 2009 too)

Look at the bleachers at a cubs it's a drunken frat party, most cubs fans to drunk to know who won so they had to raise a flag to tell them.

Yep, nothing like judging a fanbase based upon the people who showed up at the ballpark.

they do a lot of promotions to make it cheap. 40.00 if not sold out you can get a ticket and free drinks and food for 2 hours before the game under right field. its fucking sweet.

that bertucci brothers food is vile, the free beer is good if you drink that sort of piss...

I think the blue collar thing is kind of true. And the fact that it's not in a great neighborhood puts off those protective parents.

It's not that their performance on the field isn't good enough for the fans. The location, prices, and the type of people the fans are is the reason that the attendance is low.

Chicago simply doesn't have enough baseball fans to support 2 markets, it never has. Pretty decent article in today's Trib:

Chicago White Sox: Can't fault fans for staying away from U.S. Cellular Field - chicagotribune.com
