Why is it "about damn time?" What else did he do that was so impressive? I, personally, thought he was a god in Titanic...

What's Eating Gilbert Grape! He was awesome!

As for the Oscars, it is everything wrong with this country right now.

correct. It's sad people think that shows actually means a damn thing.

That wasn't all that great, Desbro would have done a better job...

How is it fair or about time that Leo won? He's not even black.

Got to love Hollywood! Pushing agendas. I saw Creed. I didn't think he should be nominated. I thought the film was over rated. I haven't seen another movie this year with a black actor or actress that caught my eye. Maybe I just haven't seen the right movies. I would venture to guess that Hollywood isn't racist, but more prejudice. I.E. height, weight, looks, etc. etc.

I saw Creed but didn't bother with Concussion. Creed was ok, nothing special. Did think Leo was excellent in Revenant. Never had any interest in Spotlight. That was a surprise win.

Creed looked odd because Stallone got nominated but the black actor, black director, and black screenwriter didn't despite it being one of the best reviewed movies of the year and despite the fact it was driven more by Jordan than it was Stallone. I think that was more for nostalgic reasons though.

However, Elba for Beasts of No Nations was probably the biggest snub from a black actor perspective considering he won Best Supporting Actor at the Globes and then didn't even get nominated although that is probably more to do with the studios being pissed at Netflix for releasing a film direct with only a limited release in theaters.

The bigger problem is Hollywood is still largely white washed and the Academy still has 94% of voters that are white, 77% that are men, and 54% that are over 60 so the reality is the nominations are mostly coming from a very specific demographic and aren't really representative. That doesn't mean they didn't get the nominations right this year or any year for that matter but it does mean that it makes them an easy target even if they were right. That kind of voter breakdown simply doesn't make sense in 2016 and it's even worse for Hispanic and Asian actors.
