we all should have learned that payroll and what teams can spend, and if they have money or not is what is the speculation. no one knows unless we are in the front office working for the cardinals. as sox fans have learned.

ticket prices: 10th out of 30
40,000 plus average per game attendance since 2005
plus apparel sales

to say they dont have money, is ignorant. again no one is in the front office.

What are you saying is ignorant? That they don't have money for Pujols or to keep the other players?

If Pooholes goes to the open market (i doubt he does though) the cubs have to land him. I have to believe the cubs will have the most cash avaible out of the speculated teams able to sign him. Either way the cubs next year need to have Fielder or Pujols playing first base for them in 2012.

No kidding i would take either in a heart beat but i wouldnt be suprised if we trade for fielder cause the brewers are going to try and get something for him if they are out of the hunt by the trade deadline.

While you are right that we don't *know*, we do know that the Cardinals have never had a payroll over $100,000,000. However, I do think that they will go over 100 MM, simply so they can keep Pujols happy. But, I don't think they will go much over. Regardless, having Pujols and keeping their pitchers is really going to hold them back.

Just because the cardinals have not gone over 100 million doesnt=they wont.

from a business standpoint, which i am very familiar with, losing pujols to the FA market would actually cost the cardinals more money than signing him for whatever he gets.

Hey, if he hits free agency, and it is a "straight-on bidding war" and the Yankees, Red Sox, Phillies, and Tigers won't be in on him, who has the best shot financially?

The Mets, The Dodgers, possible that the Angels could look to fit him in and Texas has a lot of money "laying around" after losing out on Lee and typically when teams make deep playoff runs they have more revenue just from mech sales and ticket sale etc. , but the Cubs would be up there to.

The Brewers would never make a deal like that, to send a hitter of Princes Caliber inside the division, a move that would kill them for years to come.

I don't see the Dodgers doing much of anything until the McCourt situation is finished.

You're right. They'd never trade him to the cubs unless the deal was enough to bone the cubs for years.
