So everyone understands.

We traded up from 3 to 2 NOT because San Francisco wanted Trubisky. If they wanted him, they don't make the trade to begin with. We traded up with them to prevent the Browns from trading up to 2.

Now you are going to say, the 49ers could just be spitballing us to thinking the Browns were going to give them a kings ransom to move up to 2. EXCEPT... the Browns would have called THE BEARS as well about moving up. Why? Because the Browns would have had no fucking clue we wanted Trubisky because it was never leaked and we barely even met with him.

Guys, this is logic 101. It really is something a 5th grader should understand.

You should only not like the trade if you don't like the player.

I agree with you 100%. But good luck getting through to the rabble with a well reasoned argument.

What if I didn't really think the Bears were gonna draft the dude in the 1st place, but still happy about it?

The part your missing here, is the niners most likely would not have made the trade with the Browns, because they would then move down to twelve, not 3. Maybe give up one third, not two and a fourth. Pace got played, plain and simple. Has nothing to do with Mitch, who very well might be a great QB.

There is another premise though, and that is Lynch had to be sure he got Thomas. If he trades to 12, he loses Thomas and there were strong reports that was their guy, and that he had a long relationship with their family or something.

The Titans may have taken Thomas at 5? The Panthers may have with Fournette off the board, or the Jets?

The 49ers took a deal with zero risk of losing their guy...without that deal they would have needed a kings ransom. Obviously there wasn't one. They just took picks off us for a guy they were going to leave to us. Its fucking silly. I can't stop laughing.

No, because the Niners don't get Thomas at 12. With the trade to the Bears, they get free picks and still get their number 1 player. How do you not see this???

The draft trade doesn't work on first come first serve. If the Browns wanted that spot they needed to outbid Chicago. They obviously didn't think it was worth the cost.

This is a good point. Depending on how much they liked Thomas, they might not have ever been willing to trade down out of his range.

Yeah I'm sure Pace never considered giving the 9ers less. I'm sure he led with giving up 3 picks...

I believe that Pace will trade down once or twice from their 2nd round pick and recover a third and fourth. So it will almost be like the Bears moved from 3 to 2 for a 3 rounder next year.

Small price for drafting the QB that Pace believes is head and shoulders better than the other QBs.

We have the system to support his development.

Mike Glennon is our starting QB

We did everything we had to do to get him.

To go from 12 to 2, the Browns would have had to pay Lynch to lose his guy Thomas.

Unless Lynch had an offer for #12, a second, a 2018 second, A third and a fourth and maybe more....he doesn't drop to 12. It would have had to be HUUUUGEEEE!!!!

IF it was even close to that, and Lynch didn't have a hard on for Thomas...why wouldn't he take the Browns or Panthers or one of the other 6 deals?

Because he loses his guy. So he takes the Bears deal....and perhaps..just maybe...the inquiries in the 6 were for Fournette, or too risky at losing Thomas. He might have just stuck at 2 if the Bears don't just hand him 3 picks.
