The only issue I had with your statement was that Milwaukee was not an example of mortgaging the farm, and well they clearly have.
And what pieces in the farm did they give up that would be indispensable to the team now?
Matt LaPorta??
Lorenzo Cain??
Alcides Escobar??
Jake Odorizzi??
Jeremy Jefferies??
Not one of those players is an upgrade to what they have on their roster right now.
And that statement is also clearly overlooking the fact that part of that 'mortgaging' of the farm system also ended up with them netting Jean Segura, who is far better than any of the players they traded away.
