Take the Daniels contract out.

I think you guys are under estimating Daniels, but we will see this year.

The Bears can afford a legit add to the OL and some tier 2 help.
Need a shutdown corner more. Rather use 2nd round pick next year on OL. Use 2nd tier money on TE, SS, ILB.

Charles Leno and Rashaad Coward make the entire line look worse. Daniels is fine, he’sa solid guard and can play center if needed.

What are the odds they do it again next year?
At some point you have to stop, but who knows if they want to aggressively add in Fields rookie contract window.

I expect if a bunch of the young guys work out this year... they won’t need to.

If they don’t, if they need CB2, WR3, RT, OLB2, I would get ready for all money on the table.

Nichols won't get that big of a deal unless he balls out this year

Yeah im sure they will tell themselves the cap will be ballooning in future years, but I'd prefer to maintain that flexibility for then as much as possible

Unless James Daniels balls he won't be back and I believe borom will start at RG or Rt and they'll continue to find players that fit the new theme on the oline.

I'd give bilal 8 mill a year for 4 years not 10 per

Psshhhh my man Larry is gonna start at RG AND RT.

My man

At 11 mil a year, Daniels has to be a top tier guard. He got absolutely destroyed by Buckner and Vea last season.

It’s an absurd amount for daniels. He would have to stay healthy and play like a top 10 guard to even sniff that money

RRH, a rather disappointing bum since his one nice year in 2018 just got 9 and change a year coming off two down years where he only played 23 games, starting 13 of them (per PFR).

Nichols has outperformed RRH the past 2 seasons. I think 10 mil for him is about right.

2022 Cap Room: 39 million
2021 Draft Class Hit: -10 million
2021 Roll Over Right Now: +5 million
Cutting Foles and Quinn: +10 million

44 million in functional cap space for 2022.

But with Robinson, Nichols, Daniels all free agents that money will not go far.

Man, this really puts it in perspective. I just don't think as things stand you can give Robinson the money he wants. With no 1st round pick next year, you can't draft all the immediate needs early. So you have basically a 2nd round pick and FA money to fill premium holes at WR1, OLB2, CB2, DL, and OG/OT (whichever Borom doesn't play or both if he's no good). Even if you re-sign Daniels and Nichols to plug up 2 of those holes, I think 20M for Robinson could best be split into a 10-12M WR and money for the other holes.

We need Robison on a 4-5 year deal so they can manage the cap hits over the next 2 years.

A 2nd tag is almost impossible.

Yeah, 2nd tag is completely out of the question. I'm still hesitant to sign him long-term though with Roquan coming up on a big pay day as well. But cheap QB and 208 cap would make things MUCH easier. So, if he wants his 5/100 for show that's really less than 3 years of guaranteed money with an out after 2 years (see Amari Cooper contract) then that would be doable (though probably have to go over 20M in 2023).

If Robinson stays, ideally you'd want him off the books completely after 2023 because you have Mooney, Johnson and Kmet coming up and prepping for Jenkins and Fields to potentially get top 5 money if they're as good as we think they can be.

I know there is a couple of months for the Bears and Arob to come to an agreement but I think both sides have drawn a line in the sand and Arob plays for the 18mil in 2021 with no extension.

There is no way the Bears pay him again next year as they can sign a good UFA for half the cost under a multi year deal
and spread the savings among other players.

I certainly wouldn't count on Daniels playing at a level which will command that kind of price tag and if he does, I would let him walk anyway. They can sign Bars significantly less as a rfa.
It's definitely wait and see with ARob. WRs close to his level got 14-15/year this offseason, Bears certainly aren't going to pay him 20 he wants. He will just wait until next year to see what the market shows. If the cap is 208, he's gambling on good QB play will make his already great numbers look even better and he'll cash in. Bears are banking that good QB play makes him want to stay for a more reasonable deal. I think the comp pick you'd get from him and the potential cheaper replacements may tip the scales in the direction of the Bears letting him walk. But it clearly could go either way for both sides right now.

I wonder how Robinson's camp is against signing a deal before July? If he plays out this year on his tag and let's say Fields (hell even Dalton for that matter, but more so JF1 comes in) he is going to put up some monster numbers. Pace really fucked himself on this one.

I think a lot you underestimate how good he is. I read somewhere that he ranked #1 in the league 67% or some ridiculous number, weren't deemed catchable balls that he made.

This taking into account the cap will jump to 208 mill next season?
