Imagine how pissed packers fans would be if McCarthy came here and brought aaron rodgers as an assistant to coach caleb LOL
I see that after years of being the Packer's whipping boy, now you want to emulate them.

does that make you happy or sad ?

The funny thing is, for four years These Same Chicago fans laughed at Dallas and McCarthy, but now that there is a good chance he might become the next HC of the Bears, they are talking themselves into what a good hire he would be.

Ahhh, the copium with this group is at historic levels.

Sadly, McCarthy would be the best bears head coach hire , ever? I’m not a fan of him personally but I do think he’d get them winning football.

Jessie Holley, former NFL receiver and now a Dallas sports guy, was on the CHGO podcast today and gave his honest opinion of McCarthy going to the Bears. He did not think it would work at all, pretty adamant the game has passed him by.

Of course people in here know much more than someone who has covered McCarthy for years so his opinion is irrelevant.

I guess that’s a gotcha if a lot of people on ccs were lobbying for McCarthy

This is what has to be done by some. I get wanting to be positive, this losing and cycle of crap never ends and we want hope. Thing is some are looking on paper thinking this is some great, coveted job and better than all the other openings. There is an overconfidence that these coaches must want to coach Caleb and an underestimation of just how bad this organizations reputation is. Then the top guys go elsewhere and when we get the 4th or 5th choice it gets celebrated as a good choice.

I get it, we want to win and don’t want to admit what many around the league really thinks of the Bears. Until we somehow luck into a coach and build a winner it’s going to be the same issue, of course unless they sell the team.

Short of some Andy Reid like tenure in KC any coach that leaves an organization is going to get trashed at least a little on the way out. You could find 100 media members in the Dallas area who will have something negative to say about McCarthy. It’s mostly meaningless. I don’t think anybody thinks they’re getting Bill Walsh.

And what coach doesn’t have faults you could pick apart? Why would anybody with any semblance of how any if this works think posting some words by Jessie Holley (who?) means anything? Oh some ex player of the cowboys/media member isn’t bowing at the feet of the coach who just left the building? Color me ethereal.

And I hate to have to post obvious shit like this because it makes it look like I’m championing Mike McCarthy. I’d be fine with him, but I’m not ecstatic about it. I just hate having to read stupid shit like about how Jessie Holley, (once again, who?) said something negative. Like I’m supposed to give a shit given the circumstances.

Go watch the podcast on YouTube, he has covered the Cowboys for years.

And Micah Parsons (who I have heard of) was saying very nice stuff about his old coach today. But hey that’s his opinion and he does have 7 more catches in the NFL than me so…..

I think Jessie Holley was a return guy who got the job via a reality show on spiketv. Wasn’t that him? Was it Deion Sanders who hosted? Anybody remember that? The winner got to attend cowboys training camp? He ended up making the team and played a few years if I recall.

If a Dallas team that has had significantly more talent then the Bears for the past 5 years can't get to a SB with McCarthy, then how do the Bears expect to?

When you've only won 15 games the past three seasons I think it's better to focus on getting above .500 before you worry about the Super Bowl. Unless it's simply a thing where the Bears just aren't allowed to have a good team, history has shown that McCarthy can you get to 10+ wins and into the playoffs

He's also 61. Let's not pretend that you can't also get a succession plan together.

We know Ben Johnson can get an offense to put up some video game-like points. But he's doing that as an offensive coordinator. Can he do that while (I'm assuming) calling plays, and working on game plans on the defensive side of the ball and special teams? Hell if I know, but do you know who can? Mike McCarthy.

If McCarthy's resume read "Coach XXXXX" and you didn't know who it was, just by reading his resume you'd be ecstatic to get him to lead this team. Attach the name McCarthy to it and all of a sudden what he's done isn't good enough for a team that last won a playoff game in 2011.
